An offer on tires (installation)

I want some practice installing tires and balancing.  I've got a new tire changer and balancer.  I just put my 180/55 rear tire on this week but would like more practice. 

I'm willing to do a set of wheels/tires for free to two forum members as I could use the experience.  Please hand carry your wheels over unless its an easy bike like mine with a centerstand, I've got torque bars and tools.  PM me.

What changer and balancer did you get, Matt?

I got a cycle hill changer from No-Mar and a basic static balancer from Harbour Freight with some stick on weights.

I've been using the Harbor Freight changer with tire irons for almost 10 years.  The bar that comes with it works great for car tires, but I'd like a better bar for motorcycle tires.  I've heard good things about the No-Mar.

I bought a Marc Parnes balancer at the same time I got the Harbor Freight tire changer, and I recently bought a Harbor Freight balancer.  Doesn't seem as sensitive as the Marc Parnes, but it may not matter.

That's really nice of you to offer to change peoples' tires for free!

It's clearly a bump as it's related content.  I have an identical setup to Brent's although I have a a knockoff of the Wikco bar, which I think is very similar to the No Mar bar.  I bought tire soap at a NAPA store in Bloomington.  Seems to work very well.  Second that kudos for the free offer but be careful, you might wind up with 30 responses.

If they really wanna be nice they can stop at an auto store and bring me some stick on weights as I only have a few ounces of those.

I ordered weights on line to match my rims, black for Strom, silver for ST.  They had all sorts of colors to match rims but I forgot the website.

I was watching a tire guy balance my car tires a while back. He used the same stick on weights as bikes use, but he warmed up the back/ adhesive side with a heat gun before he stuck them on. Claimed it helped adhesion.

That would make sense.  Thanks for that tidbit.  I did lose weights on the Strom and I think it's because the adhesive doesn't do well in water.  I bet the heating would help gooey is up some.

Simply Sport Bikes is pretty hard to beat on pricing for a local option, and they've got a pretty good selection.
