Article by: Associated Press

SAUK CENTRE, Minn. — The Minnesota State Patrol says a passenger who fell off a motorcycle has died after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver.
The accident happened late Saturday night just north of Sauk Centre, near the entrance to the Grey Stone Golf Course.
Troopers say the victim was a passenger on a motorcycle heading north on U.S. Highway 71. The male fell off the motorcycle and was hit by another driver heading in the same direction. The driver did not stop.
The State Patrol is asking for the public's help in locating that driver's vehicle, believed to be a Buick Regal. The car likely has damage to its front bumper area.
The victim's name and age have not been released.

Proctor woman dies, man hurt in crash
Police say a Bemidji woman fell asleep while intoxicated behind the wheel of her sport utility vehicle before she crossed the centerline Sunday and killed a Proctor woman who was a passenger on a motorcycle.
By: Staff report, Bemidji Pioneer
PARK RAPIDS, Minn. — Police say a Bemidji woman fell asleep while intoxicated behind the wheel of her sport utility vehicle before she crossed the centerline Sunday and killed a Proctor woman who was a passenger on a motorcycle.
Victoria Blakely Whitefeather, 23, was charged in Hubbard County District Court with several counts of criminal vehicular homicide for striking a motorcycle driven by Robert Childs of Proctor. Childs’ passenger, 51-year-old Tracy Childs, was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minn., where she was pronounced dead as a result of injuries from the collision. Robert Childs remains hospitalized in critical condition at an undisclosed medical facility, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Hubbard County Attorney’s Office.
Whitefeather was travelling south just before 10 a.m. on Hubbard County Road 36, about a half-mile south of County Road 9, when the collision occurred. In Whitefeather’s vehicle, police found an open container of alcohol in the center console. Whitefeather admitted to police she had been drinking, consuming more than 10 shots and eight mixed drinks the night before, according to the complaint.
After being treated and released from a Bemidji-area hospital, Whitefeather was booked into the Hubbard County Jail. There, she performed a breathalyzer test about 3 p.m. that showed her blood-alcohol concentration to be 0.08 percent.

Missing town of Superior man’s body found near motorcycle crash site
A town of Superior man who had been reported missing Tuesday was found dead at the site of a motorcycle crash Thursday.
By: Superior Telegram, Superior Telegram
A town of Superior man who had been reported missing Tuesday was found dead at the site of a motorcycle crash Thursday.
Emergency crews responded at 8:33 a.m. Thursday to the scene of a motorcycle crash on Wisconsin Highway 35 just north of Shallermeir Road, according to a news release from Douglas County Sheriff Tom Dalbec. It was determined that the driver, Brian R. Androski, 38, had left the highway and was thrown from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Androski was alone at the time of the crash and was not wearing a helmet, Dalbec said.
The incident is under investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff’s and Douglas County Medical Examiner’s offices.
Androski was reported missing Tuesday, according to a sheriff’s office report. His wife told a deputy he went for a bike ride Monday evening and said he would be back soon. She received a text from him about 10:30 p.m. Monday, and that was the last time she heard from him.
His brother, Dusty, last saw Androski at Les Bird’s bar Monday night, according to the report. He also told the deputy that it was not unusual for Androski to take off for a day or two.
Androski didn’t show up for work and was entered as a missing person Wednesday by the sheriff’s office.

Chippewa Falls councilman injured in motorcycle accident
Posted: Monday, August 26, 2013 11:27 pm
By Chris Vetter Chippewa Falls News Bureau | 0 comments
CHIPPEWA FALLS — Mike Hanke may not be able to take to the woods this fall to hunt deer, but after surviving a motorcycle crash Thursday, he’s thankful for more than hunting, he said.
“I don’t think I’ll be bow hunting this season, but I’m grateful to be alive,” Hanke, 48, who represents Chippewa Falls’ 1st Ward as a member of the City Council, said Monday from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, where he is recovering after suffering a broken pelvis, rib and pain in his lower extremities.
Hanke said he hopes to be released from the hospital sometime this week and may continue to recover at a rehabilitation center. He said he likely will use a walker for at least six months.
The accident occurred at 5:57 a.m. Thursday on Highway I a short distance from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls. Hanke, who works at the Northern Wisconsin Center, was headed east on the highway to his job when a westbound car driven by 17-year-old Riley K. Simmons of Jim Falls turned in front of him toward 156th Street.
“I had maybe a second to react. It was quick,” Hanke said. “I took three men, ages 28, 42 and 59; a 22-year-old woman; and a 6-year-old boy.
Four of the injured people were transported by ambulance to area hospitals while the fifth was taken to the hospital by a family member. All were released from the hospital later that day.

One killed, three injured in crash
By McClatchy-Tribune | 0 comments
JEFFERSON -- A Jefferson man was killed and three other men were injured in a four-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in the town of Lake Mills.
Jordan Vogel, 23, died after his motorcycle crossed the center line on Highway O near Kroughville Road and struck an oncoming pickup truck about 12:35 p.m. Saturday, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.
Two other motorcycles, driven by Matthew Heine, 22, of Jefferson, and Ruger Roehl, 19, of Watertown, crashed while trying to avoid the initial crash. Heine sustained minor injuries and Roehl was taken to UW Hospital for treatment. The driver of the truck, Randy Trumpf, 31, of Waterloo, also received minor injuries.
The sheriff’s office is still investigating the crash.
