Soaking Clutch Plates?

(1/1)

Vander:
How many here soak their NEW clutch plates in fresh oil before they install them?

Assuming that you are replacing a WET clutch.  ;D

Deplorable, thank you!:
Mandatory-since they run wet in a WET clutch.

Of course modern day clutch baskets are run much drier than they were even 15 years ago-but the plates still need to be pre-soaked with oil.

Vander:
Ah... thanks, Lloyd.

I owe you an awkwardly long hug.   ;)

Deplorable, thank you!:
"Coat the clutch discs and plates with clean engine
oil."

Quoted out of Honda's service manual...

You are already awkward enough, no hug needed....lol

Question about Ducati's and dry clutches with an open cover. Someone recently told me that he won't ride his in the rain because the clutch plates will swell up. I've ridden mine in the rain and had no such issues, but I'm no expert and would like to understand more about this.
