FNG - South West metro.
« on: May 17, 2014, 10:12:39 PM »
I just moved to the South West corner of the cities.  I live in Shakopee.  Prior to last October, I was in Brooklyn Center and did most of my riding either in Western WI, or the  Northeast suburbs such as the Andover, Ham Lake, East Bethel, Marine On the Saint Croix area.

I have a 2002 Aprilia RSV Mille.  I picked up it two years ago and I am ready to put on some miles.  Prior to that I had a 2001 CBR F4I that I bought new and rode the snot out of it for 11 years.

I am looking some new routes that start in this neck of the woods and would love to meet a few local people to hang out and get some great riding in.

I've done a few track days, and don't mind twisting the right hand every now and then.

That bike sure looks familiar. Welcome Pat. Hope to get out with you soon again.

Welcome

Hop over to Chaska and then towards Carver and then down along the river towards Henderson.

Nothing too tight around this side except for a short few corners. Like on 101. But some of that is closed for work.

Thanks for all warm welcomes.

I took 101 all the way up to Elk River last weekend.  Right out of Shakopee things looked promising.  Then I was disappointed very quickly with multiple stop lights and 45 MPH zones.

Back in the day 101 was very twisty all the way to Elk River, with few passing zones where WOT was mandatory.  But there has been a steady re-engineering of the road to straight, four-lanes with stop lights and low speed limits.  I believe the last twisty bit from Pioneer Trail down to the river is likely to be "re-aligned" this year as part of the new 101 river crossing and roundabout.

I also live in Shakopee, so if you want to go for a ride sometime, let me know...

I also remember it being better back when I first started riding.  But then again I also used to think County Road 1 between Elk River and Zimmerman was great then too.  Since then my skills and knowledge have progressed.

As far as 101, I didn't know if it was because the road had changed or if my preception has.

I rode home on Pioneer Trail today, with the idea of taking one last run through the 15 mph curve at Halla Nursery and the downhill blind curves on 101.  Too late!  The road is closed and it's already been dug up.

Thanks.

I am looking forward to meeting some others as well.

I got out on Sunday morning and took this route.

Things went well with a bunch of fast sweepers.  I kept getting stuck behind farm implements, must the late planting season.
