Dan Clark Safety Fund - Member Benefits
« on: June 06, 2010, 04:22:18 PM »
So, this is copied from the front page, and I heard about this (for the first time) at TWISTAR.

"The club funds a safety fund which offers members the chance to get reimbursed for safety related stuff each year. Helmets, jackets, pants, gloves, books, and riding courses are all eligible for reimbursement."

How does one go about getting reimbursed? And how much is actually available?---not necessarily for myself, but there are a few riders that probably could benefit from this program. I think if they knew about it, and what it entailed they may be more inclined to participate?

And how would a person (if one was to choose to) add to this fund? Plus would gear donations be wanted, or would it just be better to put up an ad and give it away?

What you're referring to is the Dan Clark Safety Fund. I don't think they'll accept gear donations, but cash is always accepted.

The purpose of this program is to promote the use of better motorcycle protective gear and the participation in formal rider training on a continuing basis for MSTA members.

FUNDING: The MSTA Executive Committee will allocate funds from the Dan Clark fund, with this amount varying from year-to-year depending on donations and participation.

ADMINISTRATION: The program will be administered by the Safety Fund coordinators, with oversight by the MSTA Vice President.

ELIGIBILITY: Your membership must have been current for the entire calendar year that the item or service was purchased plus the following year of payout.

ELIGIBLE ITEMS & COURSES:
Approved apparel are ¾ and full-face helmets, full-fingered gloves, boots, leather/synthetic riding jackets/pants or one-piece suits and electric vests/jackets. Motorcycle add-ons (mechanical or electronic) and track days are not eligible. Please refer to STAReview for a complete listing of the approved courses.
Eligible courses (as of 1/15/07):
Accident Scene Management
American Heart Association C.P.R. classes
Atlanta Motorcycle Schools (excludes tours)
Fast Tracks Street Riding "The Experience"
Stayin' Safe (excludes overseas tours)
Lee Parks Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic (Performance Street Riding Course only)
Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Course and Experienced Rider Course
Red Cross First Aid and C.P.R. classes
Reg Pridgmore's CLASS Riding Course

SUBMISSION: Eligible MSTA members will provide a copy of the dated receipt for apparel and/or training along with their name, member number and contact information, with a separate copy for each apparel item or training course. A description of the item or class must be provided on a separate piece of paper because receipts are often not descriptive.

Documentation must be mailed to:
Dan Clark Safety Fund c/o J K Murray
201 Stiles Road
Epworth, GA 30541

The submission MUST be clear and complete to be considered for the drawing.

SELECTION OF WINNERS: A drawing will take place at a selected MSTA event in the spring to pick the winners from the previous year. Those results and awarding of checks will take place at STAR of that year. The number of winning names to be drawn will be determined by the funding available for that calendar year. Member names drawn will be reimbursed 50% of the cost of the eligible item/class up to a maximum of $100.00. Winners need not be present and their checks will be mailed to the address provided on the individual application.
