Route Help Near Wabasha
« on: May 04, 2016, 12:27:22 PM »
Hey guys and girl (Denyse)  ;D

Looking for some help on a route for a weekend trip coming up here where we are heading down to Lacrosse for the weekend.

The plan is to hit 60 East and then double back west on 60 and take 11 down towards Millville/Hammond. From there we are going to work our way down to Minneiska and hit 25 and then roll down to good ole 76 near Caledonia.

Do you guys have any other suggestions on must hit roads down in that area?

Thanks!

Jeff

Cty Rd 4 from just south of Houston all the way to Spring Grove

Rushford to Money Creek: It's called many things given it crosses a county line, but it's St Hwy 27 then Cty 26 ... fresh pavement last year. Tight, fun road!

Hwy 25 from Wyattville to Hwy 43

Route sheets attached for the GPS route displayed.

Have fun!

These people have taught me more about riding than any day spent on a track: Larry B, Tony K, Vince J, Mr. Wonderful, V2Neal, Marty F, Kevin B, Devon W, Ehrich, Mike A, John L, Arnell, Kirk, Ray C

Track days are like climbing the rock wall at REI.
Perhaps I need to stop taking the high road.

Perfect that helps a ton!

Think we will hit that from Wabasha and then cut out at about the 175 mile mark over to our Motel and crash for the night. Maybe will hit that northern part from Lacrosse on part of Saturday. Thanks Greg not Steve!

Route sheets edited. Mileage amounts rounded up or down as appropriate, unless the increment was less than a mile.

For those that need a quick primer: first column = Direction Left, Right, North, South, East, West
2nd column = Road Name
3rd column = Distance to travel on that road
4th column = Accumulated miles

Just looked over those route sheets and man I cant wait!

The anticipation I feel shortly before a motorcycle trip is similar to the way I used to feel as a kid the day before summer vacation, ha!

Ray K and Jay W were instrumental in helping me put this route together 6 (7?) years ago.
My favorite stretches are:
The decent into Rolling Stone on 25 from the north is very pretty.
25 south from I-90 all the way south to 43 is pretty as well. There is a long sweeping right-hander that begins here (43.86121, -91.79242) and is fun to get leaned over on!  :)
Cty 27/26 between Rushford and Money Creek is money! New pavement as of a year or 2 ago. Very fun!
Hwy 4 south of Houston running all the way to Spring Grove is full of fast sweepers. This stretch can have a lot of gravel given there are a lot of farms.
ALL of the Iowa roads are very fun ... go figure! You will notice a change in pavement color on 16 about 2 miles south of Spring Grove. You are in Iowa at that line.

Have fun, manage the risk!

I wish I possessed your memory of roads.  I recognize them once I am there, but often have trouble recalling which are connected to which.

Had a lot of fun doing this ride Greg. Our weekend trip was cancelled but I still got out and did this whole route and a few extra roads. 620 miles for the day. Oooof da.

Forgot the name of it but there was a real fun road down near money creek.

Sorry to hear the overall trip was cancelled, but glad you got out for one mammoth day!  :D

Was the road this one, which was included on the route? Or different?

Anyone have this original posted trip in a GPX file format?

Just curious, looks like a neat trip but I have to be able to see/watch it on a screen as I travel!~
