Amish restaurant.
« on: September 15, 2018, 11:08:34 AM »
Does anyone know if the Amish restaurant a few miles south of St Charles on Hwy 74 is still there? I know
Roger, PK, Vince and a few others have been there. If I am up for it I may do a solo run there soon. The
reason I ask is because I did a solo run to Houston a week ago. I was hoping to feast on good German
food at that German Cafe. Alas, that place is no longer there. They had been there for decades. Did they
relocate? Go out of business? Anybody know?

You are talking about the Amish Ovens, just on the south side of I-90.  I stopped there two weeks ago on my way back from WI.  Good Food, friendly people.  It is also a truck stop with gas and diesel fuel.

And giant sweet rolls.

Rosi in Houston retired upon reaching 80 years old and closed her restaurant.

The old gal that owned and operated the German Cafe finally retired. I will miss that place and the great food they served!

I posted about it on FB - but recently tried another good spot East of Caledonia on HWY 249 in Freeburg MN; "Little Miami" Bar / Resturant.  Excellent Broasted Chicken!   Last 3 miles to the river is gravel, but its paved from Caledonia to the restaurant.

TK, Darcy, Ed and myself did a small ride several years ago to the Little Miami.  I led them in on the gravel side, LOL.
