Another bad year at Sturgis
« on: August 11, 2010, 01:28:54 PM »
I'm hearing at least 9 fatalities including an 82 year old guy on 16A. A truck may have crossed the center line and taken out 2 or 3 Iowans on bikes. Anybody
have any links to this stuff?

I have not heard anything, but the truck crossing does not suprise me they can't make the tight turns with 1ton truck so the take up the whole road an try to kill you with the mirrors if the can't get you with the bumper.

A pickup truck crossed the center line and took out four riders in a construction zone on I-29.

Another reason not to ride in formation.

I drive a 1 ton, and so does Ray, I doubt we are trying to kill you with the bumper or mirrors when we turn right.

Do you drive through Custer State Park in South Dakota? Last time Ken and I went though there ever truck was swing wide and they all had the camper mirrors on that hung like 2 feet off the truck, then they would look at you like WTF are you doing on the road.

and I am sure you would try to kill me if you knew it was me  :P

That is my worst nightmare. An oncomming vehicle suddenly swerves across the center line directly into my path of travel and I have insufficient time for
evasive manuevers.

Not to mention you don't see a large mirror sticking out right away when there's a huge truck your trying to avoid. Those suckers are about head level too.
