The Fut is completely serviced and has fresh rubber so we'll see you by lake Pepin when the weather gets warm enough for this old carcass. Guzzi John

They don't know(or care)about salt eating their bikes. I'm looking at late April/early May unless global warming does something extra. We definitely need some good rain to wash things off the roads-especially in the hills.GJ ::)

Salt is especially hard on aluminum.  It's also slippery.

A good rain is a wonderful thing.

Tomorrow (Thursday) I hope to get some work done on my bike.  It's warm enough that I will only need a little extra heat to be perfectly comfortable working with cold metal parts.

salt = bad , is a quick wash all it takes or it gets powdery and clings everywhere ??
i have soft hot and cold water in the garage, i suspect salt removal is not as easy as dust or dirt ?
hate to eat my bike away for an hour on iffy roads.

It's easy to wash off, but it does tend to get into every crevice.

While I prefer avoiding it with both cars and bikes, modern vehicles are pretty impervious to yuck (consider that no one sells rust proofing treatments anymore).  Make an effort to get salt off of aluminum as it discolors and pits aluminum.  Thus be sure to clean up the wheels and anything else aluminum.

I'm not a waxer by nature so if given the choice between riding and fussing over the bike - I ride.

I know what happens when you done wash the bike right after. So these early rides are not worth it to me that's one reason why I ride a snowmobile.
Pressure washer is a must if you ride and do it the same day.

i was out today, just up and down the street in flip flops and a stocking hat though testing my new clutch (it all sticks / slips as required!!).  changing the oil now, then to clean it a little, re-installed the plastic and hopefully get some real riding in yet this week.

i'm so excited!  it looks like the overnight lows will stay above freezing soon.

squid!   :P

Just foolin'  ;)

These people have taught me more about riding than any day spent on a track: Larry B, Tony K, Vince J, Mr. Wonderful, V2Neal, Marty F, Kevin B, Devon W, Ehrich, Mike A, John L, Arnell, Kirk, Ray C

Track days are like climbing the rock wall at REI.
Perhaps I need to stop taking the high road.

:)

I'm jealous.  I can't get down my driveway yet; too much snow and ice.

I have the Nemesis in (programmable ECU) and ready for testing.  Then some other stuff to install yet now that it is warmer.

We're getting close!

(Be careful out there - lots of sand, cold pavement, and at least my brain needs to warm up at the start of every year.)

I wrote a long post on MNSBR about things to consider when taking early spring rides.  If you are interested... http://www.mnsportbikeriders.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=58323
Sorry if you have been banned over there - too lazy to copy and paste all the pictures.
