Also note: I've never seen on-bike camera work like that. The camera is in a glass (plastic?) ball or something suspended like a gyroscope or probably something like that. You get my drift, ha.

Yep, it's a gyroscopic cam. Not sure if they are out for public consumption, but they have been common in MotoGP for about the last year. Really cool piece of technology. The GP ones aren't in a bubble, so not sure about the difference in configuration but the effect is the same.
