so does a safer bike equate to riding on the electronics, trac control and abs, or is that there just as an extra safety step??
i have abs and can could on one hand how many times it has kicked in, others seem to hammer the brakes soooo hard it is always oninterestinging advancements though

From the article, seems like they left all the electronics on and results in less crash vs. prior year.  I know its not scientific, but its the best data I've seen.

Wow, while I'm a total outsider to that whole thread/community I did read most of that and wow that was painful, so many idiots. 

The best was the guy who said that if you have ABS it will be bound to fail and that you WILL end up doing an endo because of you'll have no idea how to brake. (As if it does all braking for you???)

Like Joel said in 50k miles on ABS bikes I've had it come on about 2 times for a few milliseconds when braking heavily, other than practicing in a parking lot where I can tell you that ABS allows you to have confidence in braking and keeping your wits about you and not worrying about the front tire locking up and dumping you on the ground - which is how I had my only street crash back in '99.

+1 it takes almost nothing to make heads explode! Someone started a thread about the Ghost Riders and of course they are extremely misinformed about us. I made one comment that I was a Ghost Rider and played nice and they still got their panties in a bunch so I dropped it..... Ge, let's go revive some entertaining threads! i still wonder how ABS will work once a bike leaves the pavement, i.e. running wide on a corner into the grass, but the ABS won't let the tires slip and you can't stop prior to the trees 100 yards away.  that's my fear/scenario...  or if you follow someone when the road randomly turns to gravel (I've heard this can happen :/ ) and they control-skid to a stop digging a trench while ABS does its thing and you hit them going 10 or 20 mph or something...  not dissing the tech, just wondering how it'll help when the lack of adhesion lasts longer than you want it to.
