Will be interesting to see how much tolerance Audi have for Ducati in MotoGP...

Being "fast" is very relative, this is my point.  Although my scenario is extreme, hopefully it points out the many flaws in "ride your own ride" for group rides.

Sanctioned MNSTA ride - ice cream and how to read a route sheet without putting yourself and others in danger ride 101.  I'll be the first to sign up (next year).   Yep, I can lead the "fast" group but it sure as hell is not from a route sheet.

So let me post a scenario/question for the "ride your own ride" proponents on group rides, as I personally think the two concepts are orthogonal:

My close-knit riding buddies and I decide to go out on a route that we have ridden many times before and have committed to memory.  We invite you along and provide you with a route sheet and tell you to "ride your own ride".  You cannot keep up, quickly fall behind and are now reliant on a route sheet to follow along the route all alone.

Does this fall into group riding - if it was me, certainly not.

For Sale/Wanted to Buy / Re: 98 VFR $3,750

Fantastic pic, was it recent?  What is the mileage? Does the price include the GIVI's, throttlemeister, etc?

Bike maintained by Lloyd - not sure if that is a selling point   ;)

Latest rumor has Spies going back to WSBK replacing Haslam.  Lot to be said over team communication, Melandri dictated his own garage when signing for BMW - looks like the Germans have come to the conclusion that the Italians run a better team as BMW will no longer be a "factory" team for 2013.

General Banter / MotoGP vs WSBK

It baffles me that WSBK dominating riders such as Spies and Toseland fall flat on their faces when competing in MotoGP.  Are the riders in MotoGP that much better? It certainly cannot be the bike considering MotoGP has gone to 1000cc.

Don't get it!

Gotta feel for Sykes - great in qualifying, but his bike quickly falls off the race pace.

Race 2 was a blinder.  BMW are definitely getting their moneys worth out of Melandri - his pass on the last corner of the last lap was masterful.

Damn, I spent six months in San Antonio on a contract for hire situation.  Turned them down due to how boring I thought San Antonio was; should have enlisted Ray as a tour guide!

Texas Hill Country is not all that it is cracked up to be - was not impressed.

Would the UK approach to obtaining an M/C license work in MN?linky

I am too lazy to do the research, but it would be interesting to compare the number of M/C related accidents/fatalities in the UK and US (not exactly apples/oranges comparison as the UK is far more densely populated).

What metrics exist for having a helmet law in MN?

How about a graduated license system like they have in the UK?

christ, i feel like i just walked into the nursing home and caught you guys reliving your youth  ;D

Funny shit right there.

John Coltrane is the only "jazz" I will listen too.  The rest, quite honestly, puts me to sleep (not a bad thing).
