With a little luck it will be on the road by Tuesday. Surprisingly enough DVS said that a title would be issued for it. I'll be interested to see if the title could be used to street title in it another state.

General Banter / Honda to produce road going RC213V for 2014
« on: September 19, 2012, 09:31:38 PM »
MCN Posted the following earlier today and then pulled it down.

Honda insiders have revealed the firm will on Friday announce the plan to put a road-going version of the MotoGP V4 RC213V into production for 2014 as it tries to give a massive boost of excitement to the Honda brand.

Honda boss Takanobu Ito will make the announcement on Friday this week as part of a bigger speech outlining the future of the firm with the RC213V production bike being presented as a halo bike which will be hugely expensive and strictly limited in numbers.

This is definitely not a replacement for the CBR1000RR Fireblade and will be more akin to the £40,000 Ducati Desmosedici RR which sold out and was built in bigger numbers than first planned despite a massive price tag.

The rumours of a road-going Honda based on a MotoGP bike have been doing the rounds since the World Championship ditched 500cc two-strokes in favour of four-stroke 1000cc machines in 2003.

It's known Honda was very close to putting a 1000cc V5 into production in 2006 but this never happened for reasons known only to Honda.

It now appears Honda is ready to make the leap and in part this may be helped by the firm's decision to make a run of customer specification engines for the Claiming Rule Teams (CRT) in 2013 which will change the way the engines are made.

There are no official details at the moment and we will have to wait for the official speech to be given in Tokyo on Friday but it’s understood Ito will make reference to some of the greatest Hondas of the past such as the RC30 when he makes his address.

A Honda insider said: "This has been talked about for a while now within Honda but there is now the firm intention to put a bike derived from the MotoGP bike into production so we can show the kind of engineering, passion and excitement Honda has become known for.”

A full MCN investigation into this story will be in the September 26 issue on sale next week along with updates online as soon as there is official word from Honda.

Off Topic / Vote For How to Make The Forum More Civil
« on: April 09, 2012, 08:09:18 PM »
In an attempt to make the forum a more civil place, a week ago the Karma feature was turned on the forum and a discussion http://mn-msta.com/index.php/topic,1063.0.html about the feature and different ways of managing civility on the forum were discussed. This poll is intended to allow the members of the forum to express their preference for how the forum proceeds. Every forum member is encouraged to vote, and all votes are confidential and the forum will proceed forward with whatever the majority prefer.

1. Begin to moderate and administrate the board based on what I consider civil behavior. Encourage people to report personal attacks and uncivil posts for moderator action and to not respond to these posts.

2.Moderate posts based on receiving a certain number of request for moderation reports on a post.

3. We can implement Karma, we can change the way it is implemented, we can change "Debby" and "Brent" to whatever we want, we can make the number a total of the count of the Debby's and Brent's people receive and we can extend the period which people have to wait before they can give a member a Debby or Brent.

4. We can try to implement the system that Ben suggested, http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1890read about it here, so that posts are rated as positive of negative or positively only and users get a "Respect" rating based on the cumulative ratings of all their posts. This may not be possible to do for technical reasons.

5. An unusual option would be to make all the boards in the forum have the same permissions as the safety and riding tips sub forum. This would give every original poster the ability to completely moderate any topic they started, and would mean that each an every thread would reflect the original poster's intent and sensibilities.

General Banter / The New Safety and Riding Tips Forum
« on: April 03, 2012, 09:56:26 AM »
A new sub forum,  Safety and Riding Tips has just been set up. The intent of this board is to serve as a reference repository for thoughts on riding safety and riding tips, not commentary.

On this board members have a different set of permissions for controlling topics they start. The intent is to give original posters editorial control over their posts and any thread which develops from their post to enable them to create a reference post/thread on the topic they have started. Original posters may leave all responses to their posts unedited and simply use the responses to make their original post better or they may edit the responses to provide responses to what they perceive as frequently asked questions or different points of view, whatever they feel makes their post/thread clearest and comprehensive as it relates to the topic they are trying to address.

Original posters in addition to normal permissions they have on other boards in this forum can:

  • Edit replies
  • Delete replies
  • Split replies off into separate topics

The intent of these permissions is to allow original posters to give editorial control over posts and threads which they are trying to create a reference post/thread on.

As the old saying goes, "there are 20 ways to skin a cat"  the intent of this forum is to also allow differing points of view on safety and riding tips to be posted. It is clear that this has the potential to create significant clutter, so everyone is encouraged to contribute to an original poster's thread on an existing topic, instead of starting their own. If significant clutter develops, we will work with the original posters of posts on overlapping topics and get the overlapping posts/threads merged to try to create a single reference on a topic.

Have fun folks! Hopefully this section will become an asset to the forum and riders in general.
