General Banter / Re: Should MNMSTA be a members eyes only forum?

Next year when I want to ride with you guys I'll simply hope my telepathy is working that day.
If you want a good example of what paying to be in a club and or forums does, visit the Chippewa Valley forums and read some of their posts.

I've had trouble logging in over at the Chippewa Valley club's forum the last couple of times I've tried.

Is their site dwindling? Is it a "pay" club now? If so, perhaps that's why I can't log in?

The solution is very simple and all the whiners on here saying it has to be their way are idiots. YOU  should take YOUR ball and go home- delete YOUR account and leave-please !! Do yourself and us all a favor

Respect the route creators wishes-and stop stealing their routes and stop attending any of their rides, then stop whining like little babies about the fact some people don't want YOU to have it!

If they are so damn easy to create and execute-get off your lazy ass and do it- make up your own route and do your own ride instead of having to use someone elses hard work, that is just proof positive of a LAZY non contributor

This isn't open for debate, it won't be rammed down ones throat. This is this way it is, certain people will not share and certain people will !! I could really care less which group you fall in, but you do need to respect the wishes of those that don't want them shared.
It is that  Black and white.

This thread is another one of those argueing idiot threads that makes no sense.

Why can't we just get along? I'll tell you why-it is because there are far too many lazyasses who need everything handed to them, and feel they deserve it that way.

My take- Fuck you, shut up and go away or start contributing something useful !

I still feel this forum needs to be locked down so only members can view anything, and we need to weed out the riff raff.I added a poll thread for this simple question !
Plus just like someones tagline- I hate forums, for this reason-too many idiots with internet access and too much idle time with too stupid of posts.

Just because some people want to share and some don't doesn't mean either side is in the wrong or in the right- what is wrong is idiots posting up argueing that it is their way and their way alone in regards to their belief that everyone has to share or not share- GTFU !

I can no longer be affiliated with this type of rhetoric.

Sadly it's time for a new(er) bike. Funny how we bond with inanimate objects.  :-\
Details over at the circus.

Here is a rebutal statement, just so your comments are put in context in regards to my routes. Others may have there own issues.

There was no misunderstanding when I told you, in direct and certain terms to not post up my routes!
There was no misunderstanding when I wrote you and you argued with me about removing my routes once you had already posted my routes!
There was no misunderstanding when you took my route and changed the name of it, then I posted up about it, only then did you tell me you removed it, for me to only see it back up on the page under yet a different name a week later!

I hope you are sincere and I appreciate that it finally appears to be down.

Lloyd, relax  :) .  He admitted he did something some wished he hadn't, now let it go.

ugh   :(

Although I agree with the sentiment in keeping written routes a little closer to the vest, this seams to be becoming a bigger issue than it needs to be.

errr, I'm not sure where this disconnect is, but we're not on the same page. I'm fully (life insurance, health insurance, short & long term disability as well) covered personally. I'm talking about the cost to repair the bike. :)

I know there is at least one other prominent rider here that does this exact same thing and for the exact same reasons. I won't out him (or her) .... but here goes:

One way I keep my riding in check is that I've never had more than liability insurance for any of my bikes. I've always paid cash for my bikes, so I'm not tied to a financial institution and obligated to carry full coverage. For me this behavior has positive results.
1. It keeps my endorphins in check and I'm constantly aware when I'm on the bike that I'm paying myself for any f*ups I incur.
2. If anyone uses the argument against me, "You shouldn't ride that way as it costs all of us in higher rates" ... I can reply, "That may be true for some, but not me" .....

Works for me, but YMMV.

I’m not much of a reader but as all motorcyclists in MN know soon we will have more time on our hands. So I’m looking to find a good book, this is where your input comes into play ? If you have any good books that you could suggest pleas let me know.

Thanks,

PS not a fan of fiction.

I recently read (on my Kindle) ...Gulag: A History by Anne Applebaum

Great book if you're a fan of 20th century history.

This post isn't responding to any one comment, just to the theme in general.

So many of the skills involved in good motorcycling are counter-intuitive and need to be drilled into our melons with repetition, repetition, repetition.

Quick Laguna Seca budget based on 10 days - 1 day out (about 24 hours of driving in shifts), 1 day back 6 days riding, 2 days at the races.

High cost of $1900 per person including transport cost, lodging, gas for 350mi/day riding, food

- 4 people go
- $3.30/gal gas
- $40/day food
- $50/night lodging outside of Monterrey
- $140/night in Monterrey
- Premium 3 day race package (w/parking)

Low cost - $1400

- 8 people go
- $3.10/gal gas
- $35/day food
- $40/night lodging outside of Monterrey
- $70/night lodging around Monterrey
- General admission 3 day race package (w/o parking)

This is way too long a trip for my time off schedule in 2011. I have other trips with the wife planned. I'm game for going out west, but 7 days (including travel days) is the extent of my availability. :(     My vote is for the Appalachians or the Ozarks but I understand the draw for some people to attend the races.

My $2k estimate might be a little high.
Truck gas: 1800 miles round trip to Denver @ $3.00 gallon / 8 MPG = $675 round trip split by 4 guys = 168.75
Hotels: $120 a night (could be more) doubling up 2 guys = $60 x 7 nights = $420
Bikes gas: $30 day X 5 days riding = $150
Food: $50 per day x 7 = $350

That's $1087.75 at a bare minimum and not including WSBK tickets. My guess is that hotels run more than $120 a night in the Rockies.
