General Banter / Re: Spare tire« Last post by wiemanca on June 04, 2023, 09:53:18 PM »Yep, that is the way it is on many vehicles. On some, it gives more room without a spare in the trunk. Also, many have different size tires and mostly, nobody checks the pressure in the spare. Then when they need it, it is also flat. I have seen many times with the small spare tire on the car, it is smoking as they drive, because it is low on pressure. OR, is it because they think they can drive just as fast with it, and forever.
Our 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1, came with a small air pump. It also has a free tire service while under warranty where a Ford dealer will come to your rescue. I just had new 2 Metzeler tires installed on the 1986 Gold Wing Interstate at Leo's South, Lakeville. Maybe I should check to see if they have free road service. 13

General Banter / Re: HAPPY EQUINOX« Last post by wiemanca on April 05, 2023, 04:51:09 PM »Last Saturday when we had over 6 in of snow, I sent a photo of our deck and back yard to some friends in San Antonio, TX, saying that it was a bad April Fools joke.
They sent back that they were putting up with the 86 degree weather. Well, now it looks like the weekend will be 60-70's here in MN and hopefully melt the rest of the snow. LET'S RIDE!! 16

General Banter / Helmet Styles and What is the Right Choice« Last post by wiemanca on March 21, 2023, 09:37:50 PM »Recently a long time MSTA Member sent a link to us about helmets. It is very interesting in how they talk about all styles of helmets and which is the right choice for you. This link gives examples of the four main styles of helmets, and the differences in construction and safety. They also talk about the different types of testing of helmets, as well as the ratings.
https://americansporttouring.com/the-truth-about-modular-helmets/ If you know someone that does not read the MSTA forum or they are not a MSTA Member and they ride motorcycles, forward this link to them. This will help them decide what type of helmet is best for them when they go to buy a new helmet. If they are racers, they will have a Snell rating that they will need to adhere to for their helmet. I wrote an article last year for the Dan Clark Safety Program, about the different helmet laws in Central America. It was very interesting to note, that in Costa Rica, a country that is probably not as tough on some laws, but still they require a full face helmet. Keep in mind, that most cycles in Central America are of small single cylinder type. We did not see any sport touring or large cruisers, but maybe a few 2 cyl. bikes, but they were the small type. Nothing that would be capable of high speeds. ATGATT Carl 18
