There was plenty of sketchy passing going on all weekend though. NESBA allows passing on the inside or outside of any straight as long as bikes are still "vertical." However the "vertical" portion of this rule is pushed quite a bit. NESBA Barber T2 incident with 1198

I agree! Riding in the BEG group riders are supposed to pass in the straights. I know I was slow, but it wasn't a race and I didn't ride like it was either. I rode to improve my riding, not to impress others with how fast I can go. That being said I was passed a lot and of course not in the proper way. After a couple of sessions I just expected it. I had riders passing me in the corners and very close to me as well. I was riding harder than I ever have on the streets but I was more woried about someone hitting me from behind then going down. Well, even with those assholes I still wanna go back, it was a great track!

I agree it would cause non-MC to think negatively of bikers. I certainly don't lane split and ride that recklessly but my next door neighbor watches this and then sees me pull out of my driveway on a sport bike then what image does that give them of me?

It also does not address the issue that not only bikers but CARS need to be careful. In the 3 months of riding I've had I've been cut off more than once, one time proved to almost be a bad outcome for me but luckily I was able to react in time and slow down as well as move over. This doesn't address that type of problem on the road.

It is a nice reminder though for bikers to always be careful and don't be stupid. I think, well I hope, the last part was staged, but it makes me cringe watching it!

Prokart for me! With my 10 yr old daughter, makes for some great mommy-daughter bonding  :)

Additionally, I'm hoping to make some mods to my bike over the winter.

I'll also be saving up and planning for track days next season.

Then there's the telescope.... I'm going to try and make some star parties, watch a meteor shower, maybe do the messier marathon, oh yeah... and spy on my neighbors to see what they're up too! Then I plan to warm up sitting next to the fire place with some hot cocoa and television.

If I have enough money some range time would be nice too.

And I have a snowboard, I would love to learn how to use it this winter!

oh yeah, before I do all that I still have a home and garage full of boxes to unpack from my move 2 weeks ago....

I've only had 3 months to ride and Vince has lead to many roads that were great but I don't know the names of them all  :(  I remember riding O and OO a couple times and really liked them and the cut was also very challenging and fun to ride!

Don't everyone jump in and post all at once! lol

My screen name is pretty obvious, I'm in the Army and I ride. I choose it in 2008 when I had just joined the military AND started riding so it was a combination of the 2 new important things in my life at a time when most of it had turned to shit.

I ride a 2011 Honda CBR 250R which I LOVE! In 3 months I put on just over 5500 miles on the street and then I took it down to AL for my first 2 track days with it.

I live in Eagan and I work nights so during riding season I can ride all day  ;D

Zaskar it was an AMAZING time down there! I loved the track, doesn't even come close to the ones here! A lot of great corners and elevation changes throughout made it really fun to ride! And there were no deer to run out in front of me! The track itself is in great shape, unlike BIR when I saw it this summer.

I did take it slow for a few reasons and I learned more than I thought I could in 2 days about my bike and cornering. In one aspect it got boring going around the same corners over and over again but on the other side of the coin it was nice knowing what was coming up ahead and trying to ride it better each time.

Overall it was a great first time track experience. I will get some pics up soon and try to get a video as well if I can figure out how to shorten the ones I have.

I'm going to Barber next weekend for my first full track days. Has anyone been to that track before? Any tips/advice from you racers that would be good for a newbie to know? Any info would be greatly appreciated! I am going with a small group of other riders so I won't be alone and that will help a lot.

I was riding BP with Vince and we were behind you, I saw the accident from behind. It was scary to watch and after watching your bike get wedged upside down into the gaurd rail I figured you were a dead man.... I'm so glad you're healed up well and will learn from this. It all happened so fast but I can say this, following distance was too close for almost everyone on that ride that day.

Wishing you a full and speedy recovery Tony! The silver lining here is the riding season is about over so you'll be back on your feet in time for spring :)
