You can always watch Nesba's forum - Barnacle Bill always posts his specials in the classified accessories thread there.

Me, I am a convert to doing it myself.  between Lexol and Leather Therapy products, I have been able to take care of my leathers (including my new white set - my tighty whiteys).

Bike Help / Re: Gear changes, tire sizes

The power on that bike is going to fry a 003 fairly fast.  I'd go with the rear 20's mated to a front 003 instead or perhaps a pair of 20's.

Don't forget that gas mileage drops proportionally to your steeper gearing change.  If you have any buzzing that bothers you at cruising speed, that buzz will move relative to speed over ground.  I agree that it is easier on the bike to go up in rear, but if you are not replacing chain and the original chain is not long enough to handle the +2 then modifying the rear is quite expensive.  Modding the front sprocket is cheaper and lets you know that your existing chain will fit.   Also it is easier to go back and forth on the front one vs. rear sprocket.  I can do the front on my bikes within 5 - 10 minutes.   Rear is slower.

I bought the Colorado one and like the QR code embedded in the maps.  Definitely good winter reading by the fire.

I don't see it that way.  If your bike is parked and you have it insured against all possible losses, the bank shouldn't have any additional risk. However, if they think you are trying to play a game, they may say "no dice".  You should talk to the bank/CU.

Personally, I pay cash for all my bikes, unless they offer me 0% loans.

Over Thanksgiving I pulled the wheels, shipped the suspension out for modification, read six months worth of bike mags and cleaned my riding gear.     I think the rest of the winter might be loooooooooooooooooooooooooong.

Prokart pit bike riding was a fantastic way to love the winter, but a bad accident there made it unlikely I'll ever use that activity to counteract cabin fever.

I can tell it is the winter by the foul mood of some of the recent posts.

As I try to remind everyone at the beginning of the winter, talk to your insurer about taking collision and comp off your bike (since it isn't moving till spring).   I just got my $100 refund which is going right into the suspension mods.

For Sale/Wanted to Buy / Re: Heated Liner

As they say about guns, "When you can pry it out of my cold dead hands!"   I got mine at Century in Stillwater.  The fit on the Gerbings isn't self evident (sleeves are short), so if you go with Gerbings, you may want assistance fitting it.

Off Topic / Why?

Are some posts configured to no longer accept replies?  The reply button is gone.   I wanted to post a sarcastic reply to

Stupid people that think they know it all
"Assume whatever you will. It seems to be the norm to assume incorrectly"

I wanted to say that makes as much sense as some other posts, but at least it was short   :P

AH, I get it - the thread is being locked by the originator!!!

I saw this on ADV Rider and put it into my phone.
I'M SAFE
During flight training, I learned the mantra I'M SAFE, to be repeated before every engine start:
I Illness
M Medication
S Stress
A Alcohol
F Fatigue
E Emotion
Any yes answers? Scrub the flight.

While we may not scrub the ride, it is helpful to think through the list and be aware of any signals.

Bill, best wishes for a full recovery.   You mentioned short term memory loss after the accident, do you remember if you were feeling any different during your ride?  Were there symptoms that you just chalked up to something else, i.e. tiredness?

General Banter / Re: The "Wave"
« on: October 23, 2012, 11:24:32 AM »
Don't wave because you expect something in return.  Just wave to be friendly.  If you aren't expecting something in return you won't get offended if you don't see them wave back.

I wave at everyone including trikes and scooters.  I even turn and wave at riders whom I just overtook.

My observations are;
*it is an antiquated custom, do you wave at cars when riding or driving?!
*more cruisers on the road so it is easier to think that whole category of bikes is snubbing you.
*some riders only return waves.  If they are slow seeing you, they wave late (sometimes not visible to you).
*if you wave at a new or un-confident rider in a corner, they will not/can not wave back for fear of loosing control.
*the a-holes that don't wave back aren't worth worrying about.
