Title: MSR fuel bottle

Has anybody every used one of these for hauling extra gas for the bike? I have read a few people from other boards talking about using them, I think for long trips it would be nice thing to have.

I'm cheap. On long rides out west I fill a 16 oz. glass soda bottle and carry it in my tailpack. These products look like a safer solution though.

Yeah, I used a couple of them on a trip out west last summer. They worked great. Filled them, sealed em, and ran them in temps ranging from 40 - 110 and elevations from 800 feet to 14,000. Never leaked. I just strapped them to the side of my tail bag. If you just want a little "insurance policy" rather then serious range extension then I think they're a good option.

Right on.  I want to go with a tour tube eventually myself to extend range... my thinking was that four 33 fl.oz MSR bottles at $20 a piece would equal one 1 gallon tour tube in price and capacity.  The tour tubes are safer too.

But for a quick emergency "get to the next gas station" the MSR bottle would probably work just fine...  I'd be worried about crashing with it still, and I guess without those assurances of transporting a secure, contained flammable liquid, I'd just go the cheap route like Tony does and fill up a glass bottle.  I dunno... maybe I'm too paranoid too.

I bought 2 of those MSR bottles last year, and I stow them in a tail pack on my Husky.  And to think I used to make fun of the fuel range of SuperHawks.....

I carry a couple on my V-Strom and used both in the way to Inuvik and in a couple of places in North Dakota and Montana. Add the MSR Whisperlite Internationale stove that can use practically anything for fuel and you're set for camping or running low on gas.
