For Sale/Wanted to Buy / Re: YAMAHA XJR400R

It'll do the "TON"-53hp. I got fork bushings from Heinen's w no problem-they have a microfische for it. It's a cousin of the 550 Seca & Radian. I've seen an Ebay vendor in Japan posting new instuments, shocks etc. It is plenty fast for freeway.

What is bringing on all this tension? I know 2012 is the "LAST" year but so what? I'll be running my little rides and whether 5/6 others show or not I'll still ride.  It must be the cost of gas plus the Republican primaries that are driving some folks nuts.GJ

I see your point. Unfortunately the sort of riding done here is aimed at long distance days which usually entails faster machines ie higher speeds. That said a 125 gp bike or an RD250 ridden w gusto could easily keep up or lead in many cases. I for one enjoy keeping the"PACE" down-seldom seeing 75 plus gentle acceleration and braking just to make the ride more economical. I've thought of proposing rides for older/slower machinery that many of us may possess but that may be better received in other groups. My N.W. loop is usually done as was last Saturday's on my GL650. Sometimes I'll go on my grey market 400 or even the 150 Elite. My feeling is that no one should hesitate proposing any sort of ride just to see if others are interested. I enjoy showing folks new territory or learning some from others. GJ ::)

2 CENTS From an 'OLD Fart'.  I've tended towards the race line forever-I was into GPs And IOM in Junior high(1960). I like to ride the white line on straights just to be the farthest from oncoming things. My feeling about race line comes from the premiss that I'll have most of my lane as a safety factor just in case.  Picture rounding a blind corner(we seldom see any right?)and finding a cowpie, the cow,or a sleeping armadillo in your way.  On the race line you can probably go wide but if you're already wide cutting your line tighter may not work.  If you've been on the track you know the difference between the WFO & 'Demon Braking' of racing and 'The Pace'-not wasting fuel, tires, brake pads,or safety for a fun, smooth, swift ride.  GJ ::)

Well finally another Ape around. I'm in Champlin and do monthly monday rides in the 'Hill Country'. I'm ancient(65) but still love twisties.  There are some nice areas North and West of here.  My Futura has been looking for relatives-haven't seen another Ape for quite a while. Guzzi John ::)
