Routes / Route Help Near Wabasha
« on: May 04, 2016, 12:27:22 PM »
Hey guys and girl (Denyse)  ;D

Looking for some help on a route for a weekend trip coming up here where we are heading down to Lacrosse for the weekend.

The plan is to hit 60 East and then double back west on 60 and take 11 down towards Millville/Hammond. From there we are going to work our way down to Minneiska and hit 25 and then roll down to good ole 76 near Caledonia.

Do you guys have any other suggestions on must hit roads down in that area?

Thanks!

Jeff

For Sale/Wanted to Buy / Fs Gerbings Set
« on: January 14, 2013, 04:53:52 PM »
Hey guys

I'm selling my Gerbings liner, gloves and permenant controller. Total the set up is worth 460+ tax, I'm asking 250.

Everything works great, liner has been hung up and gloves are kept in the package when not in use. No smells, no rips/wear marks. Like new. Less than a year old.

Liner is a large long in size and gloves are large. I'm about 6 foot 215.

For Sale/Wanted to Buy / Tpx radar detector
« on: August 29, 2011, 09:40:41 PM »
Hey guys I'm selling my adaptive tpx radar detector so I have more money to put towards my new (to me) bike. The detector is really impressive in terms of functionality as was designed specifically for bikes (shock proof, waterproof, big glove accessible buttons).  This device has saved me many times and I could go on for days about how cool it is but I need the money, plain and simple.

I paid around 400 for the device with the cordless helmet alert (needs small battery) and the led alert and am asking 230$ for it.

« on: May 05, 2011, 03:34:22 AM »
Hey guys just received an email from dave mclellan (Busadave) and thought you guys should hear

"Just received a voice mail from Jeff Reinert’s wife that he had an accident this am and is in HCMC with a broken collar bone, broken ribs, punctured lung, contusion and he was un-conscious. He was apparently on his way to work this am when it happened. I will get more into tomorrow. He could use your prayers.  Jeff rides the red Kawasaki 1400.  dave"

Many of you know Jeff (forum name is Saunders i believe) but thought he could really use the support and prayer right now so figured i'd post and fill you guys in on what happened

Bike Help / Carb cleaning
« on: March 16, 2011, 02:20:31 AM »
So I cleaned my friends zx-6J carbs and reassembled them no problem so i figured what the heck why not just try and do mine while im at it. So here I am 4 in the morning and finally got them reassembled and put back on and i thought i was ready for spring riding. Wrong.
I went out to ride the bike today and it sounded like it was misisng on a cylinder so I took out the jets again and realized that I may have put them back in wrong (put pilot jet where main jet should be because they were the same size and i was too stupid to check before i put them all back in).

So the bike idles just fine and rev's decently but still isn't quite right..do I just need to sync the carbs again possibly or take them off and start all over?
Is it possible that the bike could still idle and hesitate with the pilot jet and the main jet switched?

I'm lost guys, any help would be great!

General Banter / Beginning Rider Advice
« on: March 14, 2011, 09:51:11 PM »
Hey guys,
So my friend jus bought a 2001 zx-6 about two weeks ago and now that we finally got his carbs cleaned and reassembled he's ready to ride. I've told him a bit of what I know and we spent the day today just showing him a few things around his neighborhood.

I told him to work on fluent clutch control (starting smoothly) and riding slow to practice balance and bike control but I was wondering what else he should practice for the time being?

He's got his MSF classes in late april but insisted on getting out after seeing me whip around with the new clean carbs :P , so I figured I'd ask you intelligent gentlemen  what you thought

« on: March 10, 2011, 01:55:32 AM »
Hey guys
So the Dunlop Qualifiers only got about another 1,000 miles or so left in em (will have little over 4,000 total) and I was thinking about replacing them with some Roadsmarts. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Just a few things i thought of when day dreaming about getting out and riding again..think this winter is killing us all.  :'(
Practice and training saves lives; Your loud pipes are just obnoxious
Semi's Kill, avoid them at all cost.
Front brake is the only way your gonna stop soon enough to avoid something in the road
Look into turns
Following too close won't get you there any faster
No, wearing shorts and sandles doesn't add horsepower (Squids)
No my ride can't beat a "Busa", especially not a certain orange and black one seen around town :P
Adding turbo or NOS should be considered assisted suicide in the lower 48 states
I don't drink, I don't smoke; I ride. :)
Waiting to get gas until reserve comes on will result in you exploring the country side...on foot
Waterproof gear unfortunately is never actually water "proof".

Anything to add?

Okay so I've just started planning my first IBA ride and was hoping to get a few tips. I've been working on maitnence and finally have time to go through my bike, so bout all that's left is sport touring tires to replace my Dunlop qualifiers.. Gonna miss the traction but getting only a few thousand miles out. Of a set just isn't worth it. :( my route right now goes from fridley to Virginia mn, then to bemidji then onto grandforks ND. From there I'll
Going south to Sioux falls then Albert Lea back home to fridley. I know it's a long ride but with good prep easily possible, just wanted to know whAt you guys thought :)

Bike Help / 20 valve adjustment from hell
« on: November 05, 2010, 05:07:07 PM »
Okay so I don't know how much money I've spent adjusting valves every so often an I'm not quite confident enough to tear it apart myself so I was hoping to pay someone to help me do it so I don't have to blow more money at the mechanic :) The job is on a 95 fzr 1000 that has 20 valves so it will take a while to complete but hey as long as I'm not spending more than I would at the shop I'm satisfied

So I got a tom-tom xl335 a little while back and I've used it to find basic things like gas stations and directions home and things but I can't figure out how to download routes or make my own routes. I've heard tyre works good for making routes but I can't quite figure it out, help would be great considering the seasons almost over an we all wanna get a few good last autumn rides in ;)

« on: October 25, 2010, 12:56:55 PM »
Well I'm jeff I live out in fridley 19 years of age (yeah I'm a young guy I know I know) I'm currently riding with  a group through christian motorcyclists association. I'm riding a 1995 fzr 1000 that just rolled over 50k on a trip to Iowa, set up with tpx radar tom-tom gps, ohlins suspension, yoshi pipe, braided brake lines and a couple other odds and ends here and there  ;D I'm a pretty avid rider (put on around 11k a season between work and school) and wanted to meet some new people to go ride with :)
