Strange that you mention the cam oiling situation.  I had someone else ask me if it had the update.  Here is what I discovered today.

I worked at Mankato Honda 1976-1986 as the Service Manager, but could not remember the whole situation on the cams.  I bought this bike from the original owner about 1.5 yr ago and unfortunately she died unexpectedly 7 months go.  So I could not ask her about the update.  I called a few Honda dealers, that I had hoped would have some answers as a way to tell, as Honda did sometimes put a stamp or some form of designation on the engine when a major program was performed.

Nobody could tell me if there was such a stamp or way to tell.  That was in the days when warr claims were submitted on paper.  I finally got referred to a guy that repairs old cycles and he is from that vintage of cycles.  He even owned a V65 at that time.  He told me that if it has oil lines from the base of the engine up to the cam area, that was part of the program and it was completed.

This bike has the oil lines on it.  He also said some people tried to make their own lines in later years, and were not always steel lines.  These lines are steel and have the Honda look.

This did not happen with all bikes.  There are several still available for sale on sites with over 50,000 miles.  None are all Honda original parts, such as exhaust, and some have a blue tank on red bike, or lots of dents.

This VF750F has original parts and paint.

Hope this helps to answers the question.  Now that you have the answer, you must be interested in buying this bike, or you would not have posted the comment.

I did some checking and MISTER is correct.  I wish I had done more checking before the dealer sold me 2 tires.  Well, I still want to sell the Dunlap.  It will be several years before I ride enough to wear out the new Metzeler.  I don't have enough time to ride lately.

For Sale: Dunlop Front Tire, less than 1,100 street miles, 110/80ZR18, D205, from ST1100.
New, was $170.00, sell for $40.00, OBO.
I am selling this tire, because it is a radial.  I had matched Dunlop radials, and the rear tire had a flaw.  They replaced it under warranty, but, Dunlop no longer makes that size rear for a ST1100.  I used the warranty money, to buy a pair of Metzler Interacts, which are bias-ply.  If you have Dunlops, you may want to buy this tire, so that you have a match when you need it.

Bike Help / Re: '86 Honda Interceptor 500 fuel hose question

Thanks for the suggestions.  It took two tries by dealer to get correct parts.  Parts are installed, and no more leaks.  And..........extra pitcock is not leaking either.  Guess it is not used, other than to leak fuel with rubbers fail.  Yea yea, I know, leaky rubbers are not a good thing.  :D

Thanks for the suggestion.  The petcock seals/rubber are bad.  New parts are on order.  Guess we are lucky, that they are still available, as not much is still available from Honda anymore for that cycle.

Bike Help / '86 Honda Interceptor 500 fuel hose question
« on: June 12, 2011, 03:48:25 PM »
Does anyone know the correct hose routing from the fuel shutoff valve assy?  We have a Haynes manual, that shows the main fuel line, & vacuum hose.  There is another spout coming off the valve, that was capped, when we bought it 2 yr ago.  Cycle runs good with it capped.  The last time my son rode it, last week, for about 150 miles, ran good also.  After it was parked in the garage, the plugged spout started to leak fuel.

This makes us wonder, what is it for.  Does not seem that it should have fuel, without a good way to plug it.

Haynes Manual does not show this spout.

It is the same size as the vacuum hose line spout.

Also, the cycle starts very hard, after sitting for several days.  Let it sit for a few weeks, and it starts, but stalls then wants to run on maybe 2 cyl, and takes many tries to keep running and get to run on all 4 cyl.

Carbs were rebuilt about 2 yr ago.  He had not run for several years previous to that time.

Thanks for any suggestions that anyone may have for us.
