General Banter / Fantasy road race
« on: February 08, 2015, 07:21:11 AM »
Does anybody here play MCN fantasy road race? I set up my team and thought it might be fun to have a local league if there was a few others that are interested. It's just for fun but does have real prizes if you win, let me know if you're interested!

If you haven't heard of it their web site is mcn.fantasyleague.com

It follows MotoGP, WSB, and BSB

There is also a league set up so those of us locally can join and compete with each other. The league code is 20013 and called Never Lookin Back Twin Cities

General Banter / Moto GP thread
« on: April 25, 2014, 02:34:01 PM »
So who is following Moto GP this season?

You think Marquez will be champion again this year? I'm excited to watch his younger brother and see how does too.

How about the last race where Lorenzo jumped the gun? lol Once he realized what he had done and was gonna be penalized anyways he should've just took off and got as far ahead as possible.

And too bad Rossi was having tire issues, that first race he sure was duking it out with Marquez and had everyone on the edge of their seat.

Ducati got a podium finish, doesn't that change the game for them now?

Anyone else see the practice sessions for this weekends race?

Any thoughts?

General Banter / Average age of motorcyclists is on the rise
« on: April 02, 2014, 06:55:42 PM »
When reading the MN Motorcycle Monthly I came across something that surprised me. It says the average age of motorcyclists has been steadily climbing over the years. and the article states "It's fair to speculate that the ordinary motorcycling participant will be very near 60 by 2020 and that might spell the end of motorcycling as a popular activity in the U.S." The end of motorcycling as popular?  :o  I find that hard to swallow.

Based off these statistics...
the average age of motorcyclists in the 80's it was 23 yrs
in 1998 it was 33 yrs
and 2003 it was 40 yrs
and in 2011 it was 43 (Harley riders was 58)

I don't agree that in 6 short years that having older riders on the road will make motorcycling unpopular. But I guess only time will tell.

Off Topic / It's the end of the world as we know it
« on: January 02, 2012, 01:33:09 PM »
Yeah yeah I know there,s all sorts of hype about the Mayan calendar and other reasons to believe the world will end on 12/12/12. But there's been big scares about other things that didn't happen in the past. What do you think? Will this one occur?

Just in case I'm not wasting one second this riding season on the road or the track  ;D

Other than ZARS, are there any recommended riding schools/instructors in the area?

Bike Help / Converting street bike to track bike
« on: November 30, 2011, 11:59:46 PM »
I would like to do some more track days next season. I only have one bike. It's kind of a pain to have to convert it back and forth. Would it be worth it to get a cage instead of trying to swap race plastics? Ideas? Suggestions?

Off Topic / Go Pro video editing
« on: November 30, 2011, 08:28:40 AM »
When I went to Barber we stopped at a Cycle Gear store (bad idea for me to ever step foot in a bike store) and I came out much poorer but with a Go Pro and all it's accesories. I scrambled to try and figure out how to use the thing so I could video tape my first track days. I would like to now edit and take clips. I've had a couple sires recommended to use that are free and also told windows media player is good. Well, long story short I'm having a hard time with it. Anyone available to help out sometime?

General Banter / anyone been to Barber before?
« on: November 02, 2011, 10:04:15 PM »
I'm going to Barber next weekend for my first full track days. Has anyone been to that track before? Any tips/advice from you racers that would be good for a newbie to know? Any info would be greatly appreciated! I am going with a small group of other riders so I won't be alone and that will help a lot.

Introductions / Hallo from Deutschland!
« on: March 24, 2010, 04:23:04 AM »
My real name is Hope and I live in the Twin Cities but currently deployed overseas in Germany (so won't be at any rides/events this year). I first started learning to ride on an 06' GSX-R 600 in 2008. I learned a little but didn't get much seat time and am still very new. I don't have the GSX-R anymore but I do have a 4-wheeler I just picked up. In Germany they can be made street legal, which mine is, so I'm learning to ride it and taking it out on the roads now too. I heard about this site from Tumbler and recognize a few other names here. I hope to keep meeting new people and learning more about riding.
