I've spent about 17 years living in Eagan. I'm in Burnsville now but always going through there. Hope to see you out riding this season!

Of all the vehicles on the road, isn't the minnie van the most dangerous.

Nah, they can't even go that fast  ;)

Winter sucks. Riding clears my head and is a nice stress reliever and a way to forget about everything for a while. When I can't ride I like to read books on riding like Twist of the Wrist, etc. I'm also taking my bike apart, fixing up a couple things and cleaning it up really well. Addiitonally, my gear all needs a good cleaning and all that will take time. During the summer I would always rather be riding then cleaning and reading so winter is perfect for this. I keep going to bike nights and staying in touch with riding friends. I also have a boatload of maps and have started planning new routes and new trips already for next season. By the time summer gets here I'm already going to have a list of places to go ride and explore. Lastly, I'm hoping to get more hours at work so I can either make mods to my current bike or upgrade to a newer one. I think with all this planned, winter will go by quickly and next thing I know I'll be back out there on the open road  ;D

General Banter / Re: The "Wave"

Bunch of posers.  Last gratuitous hand signal was a single digit for some dumb-ass that cut me off.  Go join the stone masons if you want some secret hand-shake, and don't get offended if I do not wave back - my concentration is elsewhere.

If giving a friendly wave to a fellow biker makes me a poser then I'm proud to call myself a poser. Many others will wave back and clearly don't share that attitude. If we cross paths on the road, please do keep your concentration to yourself. I won't be offended, in fact I'd prefer it.

I wave most of the time and to any biker. Sportbike riders have always waved back and so have most touring bikes. As for cruisers and Harleys most of them don't but occasionally some do. When I ride with Vince and we're both on sportbikes it's the same thing. But if Vince brings out the Harley he can get some waves back from those guys. I told him one day I should buy some pink gear and see if I get more waves back being a girl. But pink won't match my bike  :P

No one else is gonna chime in?  ???

Well here's one then, also at night. A few weeks ago I was coming home at night and rounding a left sweeper in my neighborhood. As you turn the corner the street also goes up a steep hill. I saw headlights coming down the hill as I was approaching the corner. But as I rounded the corner I realized the oncoming car was now in my lane and planning to turn into a driveway. So there I was with headlights in my eyes blinding me and had to hit the brakes to avoid becoming a hood ornament.

Lesson learned is I probably needed to be going slower. I was on a road/corner I've been up and down a million times and comfortable riding and was going too fast given it was not only dark but in a neighborhood.

There was a whole section of "sold" bikes too. Who buys these things with that kind of major damage?

I have a Gerbing heated jacket, it fits great and LOVE it! Spend the money on it, you won't regret it.

If it were me, I would pack a lot of cold weather gear and slab it there the fastest way to get to the funeral on time. Then I would enjoy my way back home by taking it slow and checking out sights, etc... that is if I had that much time to spend. I know it's hard losing a loved one but sometimes a little throttle therapy helps clear the mind too.

A full MCN investigation into this story will be in the September 26 issue on sale next week along with updates online as soon as there is official word from Honda.

Anybody here read this article? I searched for it on MCN's website and couldn't find anything.

PK- I know you probably already answered this but where do you find these reports? There was a bike accident today down on twisty 60 that I was searching for but couldn't find any info. Black sportbike hauled away in pieces, I was wondering what happened to the rider.

The crash, which marks the 12th fatality of 2012, is under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office.

12th fatality related to motorcycles? for the whole state?

I ride 2009 ER-6N. Usually I'm the last one in the group.

Now you can be second to last

Nice to see a familiar face around!
