General Banter / Re: Dunlop Roadsmarts
« on: March 10, 2011, 08:31:47 PM »
As far as i can remember they were the qualifier Q2's. I had a set of them on the bike when I very first got it and I LOVED the traction they had but throwing down a little over 400 bucks every 4500 miles or so just won't cut it. I've heard good reviews about the roadsmarts especially in the rain as you said, but figured i'd ask around here cause there's no doubt in my mind this is the place to go for good info :)
I'm just under about 500 pounds  (the bike not me :P ), so you think I should throw on some roadsmarts?

Hey guys
So the Dunlop Qualifiers only got about another 1,000 miles or so left in em (will have little over 4,000 total) and I was thinking about replacing them with some Roadsmarts. Any thoughts/suggestions?

You know?  I don't get all "antsy in the pantsy" like I used to in the Winter... I guess I don't know why.

Yeah same here but after getting distracted on youtube and going over a few vids i've just had that urge to get out.. Case in point

Just a few things i thought of when day dreaming about getting out and riding again..think this winter is killing us all.  :'(
Practice and training saves lives; Your loud pipes are just obnoxious
Semi's Kill, avoid them at all cost.
Front brake is the only way your gonna stop soon enough to avoid something in the road
Look into turns
Following too close won't get you there any faster
No, wearing shorts and sandles doesn't add horsepower (Squids)
No my ride can't beat a "Busa", especially not a certain orange and black one seen around town :P
Adding turbo or NOS should be considered assisted suicide in the lower 48 states
I don't drink, I don't smoke; I ride. :)
Waiting to get gas until reserve comes on will result in you exploring the country side...on foot
Waterproof gear unfortunately is never actually water "proof".

Anything to add?

NO way in hell would I do this in december! Think by my first. Fill up I'd have frostbite.yeah I've got a scalable rider communication system so I can hook up my phone and my iPod to listen to if I get too bored :) when would u suggest leaving? I was thinking real early, but some people I've talked to said leave the night before like midnite so all of your tired riding is in the daylight and your body is tricked into staying awake

i did something like this but I encorporated my trip to tail of the dragon, so I had more purpose.

I've thought about something like that but at this point with everything going on It'd be real hard to find time for a few days off to take a trip. Just picked up a camelback for hydration while riding, picked up bicycle shots and got an appointment set at the shop for a good once over, anything else im missing? :)
Hope everyone is enjoying this tropical weather we have been having lately hehe

Brent- Yeah from what I've read and rides I've been on it seemed like this was the best route cause it has some interstate so the speeds will be a little higher but at the same time with the first stretch out near Virginia I've heard it's real scenic. I'm planning on leaving around 4am or so so most of the riding will be during the day Aka fewer deer and away from closing time at the bars...
Tim- well hey it's not like I got anything better to do :0
Chris- yeah I was deciding between the metzler roadtec z6's or the michelin pilot roads
