General Banter / spring time, looking for 2up help
« on: January 12, 2011, 02:34:11 PM »
looking to get my wife on the back of my c14 this spring. i have never driven, and not sure she knows how to ride. My concern is that the first stop sign we come to we tip over and push the bike home. on an occasion i must turn the bar slightly or get distracted and have to catch it leaning. other times i stop and can sit there with no feet. not sure what the difference is but would feel like a tard tipping over a few blocks from the house with her.
Can anyone advise or assist a pair of newbies trying to ride together ?? would her riding with someone experienced with 2up give her a feel for what to do, or is that a ton to ask for the driver ?? I got a butt cheek chewed slightly for her not riding with me since i got the new bike for "us"  :D just the other day.
I trust you guys and have learned quite a bit in the short time riding together. I am all ears on how to do this successfully so we can have fun together.

Thanks tons,
Joel

damn winters blow now  :P

glad things are OK. Airbags have come a long ways, from side, to full curtain, they are a great life and injury saver.

what are you suppose to do if you see deer ??
slow, honk, flash lights, swerve, get your shoulder ready ??

never came into one on a bike, hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question.

Thanks,

Welcome.  congrats on getting back in the saddle, i can only imagine it takes strength and desire. You picked a heck of a bike to ride. Abs, handles well, a pinch of power. not that i would have a bias opinion or anything. Purchased mine new in June and have about 8200 miles on it chasing these guys and gals around the country side. I love every minute of it.

if you make a route, just add points on the google maps. Make sure you zoom close to your point. opposite direction on a split road or side road can screw the route up when your on it. don't do poi, save it as an itn in the itn folder. or under the tomtom tab, copy to tomtom.
i think the itn has a max of like 48 points, some routes will have tons and tons of points, routes are the way to import and not waypoints usually.

hope this makes sense,    beer, rain, disturbed (tunes), and a keyboard might not be working so well together at this time.
Joel

PS : if you use this to make a favorite in IE, if your viewing a route on the google link page, chick the favorite and it will ask to save it. then you can work with it.

javascript:(function(){var script=document.createElement('script');script.src='http://www.elsewhere.org/GMapToGPX/gmaptogpx.js';document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(script);})()

Flyinlow, i thank you for your efforts to create a location for newer members with less road knowledge can go and find a nice route to follow. I don't know the roads well, and i put the routes into my gps and its a great asset to help me get around.

I do understand that someone with lots of road knowledge, time, and effort spent on their routes would like to keep them close to their chest. Makes sense to me. If credit was given in the title or they were all titled start to end, i would enjoy them the same and be appreciative they were available.

So thanks for the effort,
Joel
