Took a little spin yesterday 3/10, went into J Cooke from both ends as far as I could. Put on almost 100 miles and it got up to 57 degrees. Bike got a little dirty, but nuthin soap and water couldn't take care of. All thanks to a much needed break in the weather. That's the new bridge in J Cooke 8)

Excellent!
I saw one bike out in the Twin Cities yesterday. A great sight.
Put on almost 100 miles and it got up to 57 degrees.
I would not be concerned; the engine will run warmer than this in the summer. :)

How much is left to pave/fix?

How much is left to pave/fix?
Talked to a park ranger, he said it won't go through this year for sure. Rumor has it, it might not go through at all but the ranger said that was highly unlikely.
-
That would be very disappointing. It is a beautiful area to ride.
-
I highly doubt that it would be closed through because both sides of the park depend on park traffic for business.

Ya never know, it's a state hwy
-
The State Senator for that region (Reinert) also happens to serve on the Transportation and Public Safety Division Committee. Problem solved. :)
-
I sure miss the road, got my fingers crossed
-
It seems kind of foolish that the State would spend the money to build the bridge (what... to nowhere?) without plans to reconnect the road. Same here, fingers x'ed they get it done. I really miss it!

Read an article in the Duluth News Trib that J Cooke is going to be reopened late 2015. Good news to be sure!
-
Bumping up an old thread.
Anyone know if Jay Cooke is fully passable yet?
Thinking about swinging through there Saturday.
-
There was a recent article in the Duluth New Tribune regarding J Cooke, it looks like its going to be a two year rebuild for it. Sound like there's a Lot of bank stabilization to do.
-
Forgot to mention... its not fully open.
-
I've heard it is fully rideable on a supermoto.
I'm not quite sure what to make of that though. Lol
-
Anybody on a bike can ride through there. Did it last year no trouble. Cars can't make it.
-
I did ride the VFR through last year. If the gate near the west end is open you can make it end to end.
-
Awesome. I'm gonna give it a second shot soon. Me and a friend were riding up and he decided to drag knee, followed by butt and arm and bike.

Hope he's ok!!
Can't wait to ride this road once it's finished.

Safer and more fun when it is closed.

I went through a couple of times this year, one time the gate was open the next not. I think the gate is open during the week.
