General Banter / Re: Rider Literally Burning It Up - Ouch!!!
« on: July 06, 2011, 05:43:52 PM »
From what I can tell the rider is wearing no helmet and a wife beater.  Most guys on rockets in that apparel can't ride for shit to begin with, nonetheless have any idea how to stop the bike safely in a panic situation.
Anyways, glad his life was saved.

Nonetheless, I still love my ABS :)

Thanks Ray.  I was sitting on one at the hitching post and actually thought to myself what a pain the bike would be to detail.  I know it's probably a good bit faster than my FJR so it's gotta be a hoot to scoot around on.

I'm late seeing this....  did you already post up a review on the bike yet Ray?  How do you like its handling?  Looks like a great bike, a shaft drive would be nice but that would have added weight.

General Banter / Re: How to handle a Wisconsin speeding ticket?
« on: May 28, 2011, 10:04:17 AM »
Much experience in my more youthful days with these types of things ranging from speeding tickets to reckless driving charges.

The speeding tickets are the hardest to fight as there isn't much they can be reduced to,  however in both TX and OK you can take a defensive driving class once each year to negate one minor moving violation, in addition to a fine.  In OK I got nabbed doing 78/55 and I called and left a message with the DA office stating I had a clean record, and I later got something in the mail from them saying they would basically throw it out if I payed a fine of a bit more than the speeding ticket amount, however it's usually never that easy at all.  For the most part down South is easier to work with.  Only some counties in MN will do the In Lieu of Adjudication because many don't have the means to track it if they did.

Good luck.  It's very difficult to keep a modern motorcycle near 55mph so I understand.  I'm just super wary of police nowadays.  I assume they are everywhere.

General Banter / Re: Motorcycle Passing - Chase - Road Rage

For this reason I never blow past people even on country roads.  I may be doing twice the speed limit coming up behind them but I slow down and pass them with a little wave to avoid pissing them off.

I'm not that worried about violence but more so the idea I have that 3/4 of the rural population is buddies with the Sheriff and I don't want Old Farmer Joe calling his cops friends on me and having them have a speed trap setup 5 miles up the highway....

I am active on the FJR forum and was told about this site through the ST Owners Forum.  Nice to see some local gatherings are happening already based on the ride planning forum!  Hopefully I can meet up soon for some riding.  I am on a 04 FJR with a single sided Muzzy exhaust and HIDs, perhaps you've seen me gently cruising around the cities, or maybe even being a hooligan.
