General Banter / Fantasy road race
« on: February 08, 2015, 07:21:11 AM »
Does anybody here play MCN fantasy road race? I set up my team and thought it might be fun to have a local league if there was a few others that are interested. It's just for fun but does have real prizes if you win, let me know if you're interested!

If you haven't heard of it their web site is mcn.fantasyleague.com

It follows MotoGP, WSB, and BSB

There is also a league set up so those of us locally can join and compete with each other. The league code is 20013 and called Never Lookin Back Twin Cities

I went Friday and enjoyed it. A lot of the usual stuff but definitely some bikes worth checking out. They have the Kawi H2 street and race to look at, would've been cool to sit on it but not allowed. Some motogp bikes, 3 wheeled "cars" and both old vintage bikes and unusual custom ones throughout the aisles to look at. Jason Britton does his stunt show. Suzuki has a leaned bike you can sit on and get a photo, you know so you look like a pro racer dragging a knee, you have to sign a waiver to do it! And plenty of drawings to win things. Vince got to sit on the new bike he's buying so I hopped up on the passenger seat to see what's in store for me haha it wasn't much. I liked being able to sit on a Marquez bike and get photos on that too!

Have a good time when you go!

Here's an article listing some of the local places offering deals. Vets day is Tuesday November 11.

We typically go to Applebees they have some good meals. They are always very packed so going early is best. This year Vince and I are planning to go to Applebees at the Burnsville Mall and were thinking of going at 3pm. If anyone would like to join us please post up and we'll make sure to get enough seats.

I watched the first night and it's crazy how insane they ride! I wish I could see it in person someday.

What a good race! Everyone was on the edge of their seats, and futons, to the finish line! Moto3 was really good too!

I heard talk that Rossi was saying Marquez would be disqualified from a couple races, is that true?

I'm excited to see Valentino in Italy this weekend and see how he does on his home turf, maybe make it a bit harder for Marquez to win one.

I never got into watching AMA, Vince told me they were down to just a few races and it sounded like there wasn't much to follow. Too bad though with RA only hours away it would be cool to go see them live.

I only started following Moto GP more seriously last year and still learning all the rules. I watch WSB when it's on too but don't know the riders as well and really prefer the Moto GP races. I think you're right about Marquez, I could see him taking it all. As a Honda fan I wasn't disappointed to see him and his team mate take 1st and 2nd :)  And I always love watching Rossi, I'd like to see him duke it out with Marquez again!

That first lap yesterday had to be the best lap of the race! I think everybody was screaming! lol

Finally I found a fan! lol

Marquez continues to dominate! I wouldn't be surprised to see him win it all, he just smokes the competition. But like you said it's still early in the game. That first lap today on Moto GP was pretty exciting. I don't really have any favorites yet but was happy to see Honda take a big victory (since I'm a fan of Honda). I was hoping to see Rossi do a little better, but he could come it last place and I would still be a Rossi fan. I haven't been to a live race (yet) but hoping to make that happen at Indy as well.

So who is following Moto GP this season?

You think Marquez will be champion again this year? I'm excited to watch his younger brother and see how does too.

How about the last race where Lorenzo jumped the gun? lol Once he realized what he had done and was gonna be penalized anyways he should've just took off and got as far ahead as possible.

And too bad Rossi was having tire issues, that first race he sure was duking it out with Marquez and had everyone on the edge of their seat.

Ducati got a podium finish, doesn't that change the game for them now?

Anyone else see the practice sessions for this weekends race?

Any thoughts?

General Banter / Average age of motorcyclists is on the rise
« on: April 02, 2014, 06:55:42 PM »
When reading the MN Motorcycle Monthly I came across something that surprised me. It says the average age of motorcyclists has been steadily climbing over the years. and the article states "It's fair to speculate that the ordinary motorcycling participant will be very near 60 by 2020 and that might spell the end of motorcycling as a popular activity in the U.S." The end of motorcycling as popular?  :o  I find that hard to swallow.

Based off these statistics...
the average age of motorcyclists in the 80's it was 23 yrs
in 1998 it was 33 yrs
and 2003 it was 40 yrs
and in 2011 it was 43 (Harley riders was 58)

I don't agree that in 6 short years that having older riders on the road will make motorcycling unpopular. But I guess only time will tell.

Yeah it's new and they for sure have some tweaks to work out. And I don't know how usefull the average rider would find this to be but this thought it was kinda interesting. I looked up areas by my house to see how correct they were and most were pretty close.

Welcome.

I've got love for Lloyd, but he lives too far away for us North-siders.  There is a local guy in Fridley that does fine work for not alot of money.

Make it a fun ride, Lloyd is worth the drive down.
