I'm 50 and have a house, three cars and two bikes with State Farm. I get full coverage w/$500 ded. on my '09 R1 for $236/yr and I had one claim in 2010 that paid out $6k. My wife's '09 Ninja 250R with same coverage runs $76/yr. Neither of us have had any tickets. With literbikes I think the biggest factor is the insured rider's age. My friend in TX pays about $600/yr with State Farm and he's mid 30's.

So, who is planning on doing some off-season (to us) riding?   Share your upcoming adventures if you want!

I'm doing a Chris Peris trackday in Arizona in late December or early January and I'm saving my $$ for a Boot Camp with Colin Edwards in April.     ;D

Gotta let me know how the Peris school goes. Jourdan is coaching down there now so I can't wait to ride with him again. Inde Motorsports Ranch is new and supposed to be a great facility. Maybe not as scenic or hilly as Barber but better than BIR or MAM. You'll have a blast at CE's boot camp. I don't know of anyone who doesn't want to go back. My wife wants a return trip more than anything. I'll be at Ft Sill, OK for sixteen weeks of training this winter so no riding til mid May unless I can use a weekend pass or leave for a two day trackday over Easter weekend at Jennings GP in FL.

Here is the video from my GoPro. I passed the 1198 at 2:06 on the straight before T2. You can see him on the extreme right as I went past at a decent pace. Both of us and the bike in front were still vertical and you can see we are well before the turn from the edge of the track. I tipped in and contact was made at 2:10. You can see me look over my shoulder in the reflection in my dash. Things happen very quickly but from the time I went past to the time my tire was hit was over 3 seconds. At 60+ mph that is a lot of distance. I can't say I'm 100% not at fault but I don't take unnecessary risks passing on the track. I'd rather just let someone go by than push it. There was plenty of sketchy passing going on all weekend though. NESBA allows passing on the inside or outside of any straight as long as bikes are still "vertical." However the "vertical" portion of this rule is pushed quite a bit. Other than that, Int group can pass on the outside of any corner. The whole bump didn't bother me too much and I just continued to ride out the session with no worries. The pace of the NESBA Int group is pretty quick and much faster than a ZARS Int group.

Damn, I heard about the collision but just assumed it was a love tap in a braking zone, didn't realize it was mid-corner. Glad both of you kept it upright. Kind of looks like he was taking a wider line then you and when you came around him and cut back towards the inside you clipped him, in any case glad the only damage was a scuffed exhaust canister!  :o

He got some nice footage of you for the rest of the session too, nice riding.  8)
Although not clear in the video from this angle, I was past him before we tipped in. I rode the same line I always took through there. I think he didn't like getting passed, stayed on the gas late and went wide before he hit me. My rear was definately clear of his front before I turned in. In my video it's clear I passed before the corner entrance as you can see him on the side as I went past. It wasn't like I pulled a Simoncelli on him... when Marco clipped Pedrosa's front wheel going around the outside and they both went down. lol

Nice videos Ben. I still haven't been able to edit any of mine but somebody posted up some from Int group for both days. He just happened to be two bikes behind when I was hit by the 1198 from behind in T2. Looking at my footage we were going between 60-65 mph when we collided. He is behind me and the 1198 and we turn into T1 at about 13:04 and it happens right at 13:10. The other bike is behind me for the rest of the session. I'm not sure where the Duc went.

ZARS is so much fun you won't enjoy riding on the street nearly as much. It's definately like crack. I did my first date last May and by October I was on my seventh time plus two days at BIR and one at Gingerman. It would have been more but I highsided on my first lap on cold tires at the end of September. I learned a valuable lesson that day.

I gave sidi vertigo's they are really comfortable and you can replace just about every part of the boot.  Although they are 475 bucks I don't regret buying them.  They are pretty comfy to wear and walk in, as long as they are adjusted right.

Sure you're talking about Vertigo's. They run about $300-$325. Vortice's are $475. Vortice's are my next boot. I have Vertigo's now. They are not nearly as adjustable as Vortice's.

I'll say so. She just booked us this evening for May 7-8. It's gonig to be unrealto ride and learn from Colin. He runs the camp at his ranch in TX between rounds of GP. Ben Spies is supposed to be there as a guest instructor. I'm hoping my wife gets her confidence up enough to start tearing up the street.

Definately see you all around. What tracks do you ride regularly? Next year I'll be doing DCTC alot (again), BIR, MAM, Gingerman, Road America, BlackHawk Farms and possibly Putnam when I go to Indy for the GP.

   Welcome to MSTA. You've got a beautiful bike there!

Your friend at Motoprimo didn't steer you wrong. This is the site for exploring Minnesota & Wisconsin's twisty back country roads. A majority (not all)  of the organized rides start in Hastings, Red Wing or Wabasha on the Minnesota side and in Prescott or Nelson over in Wisconsin. Routes can run anywhere between 200-400 miles from the starting point.

Although it's painful to think how long it will be until we rip the twisties given the blizzard I see out my window, ha.  :P

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I'm really looking forward to riding with you all next season. Hopefully I'll be up to speed...going to FL in March to ride Jennings GP for a couple days. I used to look forward to winter until I got back into riding. Looks like motorcycles win out over skiing. lol.

The Ohlins front end on the bike is about $3K, the Brembo brakes another $1K and he's got some kind of Marchesini magnesium wheels, another $3K. Very very few street riders lay out this kind of money on suspension, brakes and wheels.

The retail on those Ohlin's SBK forks are $13k... pure sex!!!
