My mom passed away from cancer 2 years ago this month. She was born and raised in Cannon Falls. She and my dad are buried right next to each other in the cemetery there as you come into town on 19 from the east. I always honk as I ride by or stop and say hi if I can. Feel free to honk if you happen by!
I rarely post here so my opinion probably shouldn't be weighted very heavily. I rode with some of you a couple times last summer and, by and large, most of you seen like good people in person. I know we certainly ride differently and for different reasons.
There are lots of forums for folks who ride bikes. Some civil and some not. I avoid the less civil ones because I find I just don't like them. One of my bikes is a Honda ST1300 (flame on) so maybe that's the kind of guy I am. I belong to ST-Owners and I must say that, by far, it's the most well moderated, no BS, CIVIL forum for any activity I've ever been involved with. You might want to take a look at it and see how they do it. There seems to be a zero tolerance for, well, the crap that most other forums allow. I've even seen guys banned for just being trolls. I'm not sure how it's done but I can say they do an outstanding job.
I'm aware that their clientele is, ah, a different demographic than you have here but it's still the internet and you get let's say a diverse group of members. Well, anyway, that's my 2 cents.
One last thing: I coach hockey and my #1 rule might come in handy for you: YOU GET WHAT YOU TOLERATE. I look forward to riding with some of you this summer.

In motorcycling, for me, discipline yields freedom. These disciplines, for me, yield the feeling of freedom in knowing I’m prepared to ride the bike.
As with any discussion about things like "freedom" a lot depends on how we define our terms. Having said that, personally I don't define freedom in that way. Having my bike totally prepared for a ride gives me a feeling of confidence and security I guess, but not what I call freedom. Also pride if I have it looking good.
I do agree, however that it takes self discipline to be consistent in the constant maintenance and cleaning that a bike requires.
All I can say is wow. If it was me, I wouldn't be inclined to ask myself what was in that truck driver's mind. I'd interpret it as him trying to kill or certainly injure me severely. I would then act accordingly.
I see this chap's behavior as confirmation of the biblical and legal injunctions against procreation too close within your own gene pool.
My name is Mark. I live in Bloomington. I was fortunate enough to ride with some of you on Sunday on some great roads.
I currently have a Honda Goldwing GT (ST1300) that I bought from a guy in Dallas last November. I belong to a couple ST specific forums and have avoided forums that are more sport bike oriented mainly due to the total lack of civility on them. I joined here after seeing what a great attitude the members have.
I'm on the older side at 56. I have a son that's right on the edge of playing Division 1 hockey so that still takes up quite a bit of my time going around with him in the cage. I've ridden about 5000 miles so far this year, just getting out looking for enjoyable rides. I tend to get distracted by great scenery, so this has been a great spring.
I look forward to meeting and riding with some of you this summer.
