For Sale/Wanted to Buy / 2004 Yamaha FJR1300A
« on: August 26, 2011, 10:29:01 AM »
Fully loaded with factory rear top case and ABS.  43k miles, heated grips, adjustable windscreen, rear hard bags, Spencerized seats.  145hp stock.  39-46mpg.  Very comfortable but also a capable sporting mount.  $5400 but open to offers.  Bike has full muzzy exhaust system and PC3 but I plan on putting it back to stock for sale as those items sell readily by themselves online.  If you're interested in it, we can discuss.

New OEM brake pads
New rear tire
Fresh DOT4 in all brake and clutch lines
Valve adjustment done this spring - not due for another 22k miles

General Banter / Motorcycle tire changing service
« on: August 09, 2011, 08:45:03 PM »
I am planning on putting on some new to me Conti Motions ($162 shipped at motorcycle superstore for the pair, wow!!!)  I've heard great reviews on their handling for a ST tire, supposedly better than the PR2's that I have now and really enjoyed.  Mileage seems decent if not quite as long as the PR2s.  We will see.  I have 6400 miles on my PR2 rear this season and it is just about going to be showing cords pretty soon.

I was going to take them to Simply Sport bikes to be mounted, but if anyone on this forum does a good job at mounting and balancing tires I will pay you $20 each.  They charge $25.  I will take them on and off the bike myself.

thanks.

Bike Help / Checking float height - Bandit 1200
« on: August 08, 2011, 11:12:23 PM »
My old love of my life is/was my bandit 1200.  I put 60k miles on her.  But she's been a little ignored the last 4 years since I've had my FJR.

I rebuilt the carbs with full new seals and o-rings from dale walker this spring.  the bike still is flooding when I try to start it, and has a seriously rough idle if/when it will start.  Sometimes the carbs will even leak fuel while running or afterwards.  I'm thinking it may be a carb float issue.

Anyone have any experience measuring these correctly?  I've got a nice digital caliper.  I have the carbs sitting on my work bench and if anyone could swing by some evening and give me a tutorial it'd be much appreciated.  I have open pod filters and have jetted them correctly in the past and it ran great for years.  I'm in Richfield.

For Sale/Wanted to Buy / KBC FFR Modular full face helmet XL $65
« on: August 08, 2011, 07:44:09 AM »
Hey guys.  This seems like a great helmet but it is one size too large for me.  KBC's do tend to run a bit large and the previous owner had the same issue, bought it new online and it was too big for him.  It's the 'retro' model and very attractive and relatively conservatively styled.  Seems as quiet as my full face helmet, not too heavy either.  If your head is 7.5 to 7 5/8 I think this helmet would be a good fit for you.  This helmet is probably closer to a XXL in most other brands.

Only has a few rides use on it.  Retailed for $250, real world prices were in the $180-200 range.  Just looking to get some of my money back on it.  Smells and looks new.

General Banter / GPX route creation - can I get some help?
« on: August 01, 2011, 05:46:49 PM »
What program do you use for creating routes?  I have made a couple by creating a route in Google earth and then using a KML to GPX converter, however that's a royal pain because it's very hard to see county roads in google earth, especially when you zoom out slightly.

I haven't figured out how to obtain a copy of MapSource from Garmin.  I use a Garmin 1490t that supports Routes, and I'd like to create some routes so as to share with the forum here.  I currently use EasyGPS to transfer routes to my Garmin.

Any tips or if you can hook up some software, that'd be great.  Thanks guys/gals.

Introductions / Hello from Richfield MN
« on: May 04, 2011, 10:58:36 PM »
I am active on the FJR forum and was told about this site through the ST Owners Forum.  Nice to see some local gatherings are happening already based on the ride planning forum!  Hopefully I can meet up soon for some riding.  I am on a 04 FJR with a single sided Muzzy exhaust and HIDs, perhaps you've seen me gently cruising around the cities, or maybe even being a hooligan.
