The 2014 STAR was concluded Wednesday night. They announced we had 275 people attending. There were about 255 bikes. I counted 8 people from MN and I think there were 2 or 3 from WI. There was only one crash and the rider wasn't injured seriously. Two bikes got blown over by the high winds in the hotel parking lot on Wednesday.
I had a great time riding Monday-Wednesday. I've ridden the Black Hills three times before so I made my own routes. Most of the attendees had never ridden the area before but they had access to a bunch of routes put together for the event.
Next year the event is in Springdale, AR.

Nemo Road, Vanocker Canyon Road, Spearfish Canyon, and all the roads inside Custer state park. I might try to get out there later this summer myself.

Thanks for the update Tony. Attendance looks like it was lower than other years. How were temps? Rain?

I found the temps acceptable but some of the attendees from warmer states thought it was chilly. Temps ranged from 50 to 75 degrees depending on elevation and time of day. Monday thru Wednesday there was only a slight sprinkling which didn't impede my progress. For those who arrived early, Saturday was sketchy and Sunday was a washout. Some cut short there riding because of high winds but I stayed mostly in the valleys and forested areas on Wednesday when the winds were high.

"Nemo Road, Vanocker Canyon Road, Spearfish Canyon Road"
Yup, those were probably my 3 favorite roads. I ran them both directions multiple times. The roads in Custer are fun and quite technical but traffic is more of an issue to deal with. At one point traffic was delayed by 3 scraggly-looking mountain goats who blocked a tunnel.

Who were your 2 friends and did you get in trouble for blocking traffic? ;D

Beat me to it. ;)
