General Banter / Huh? What?
« on: February 15, 2019, 07:48:22 AM »
Recently had a hearing test, 40% hearing loss in my right ear. Most likely due to a lot of loud music, both live and recorded throughout my life. I'm sure motorcycling played a part in it as well.

Good things have a price. I wouldn't change a thing. :)

General Banter / Curious Thread
« on: November 15, 2018, 07:16:35 AM »
Curious thread over at the national MSTA Facebook page of posting a picture of yourself and referencing your age. A person finally posted a counter thought on the trend, which has provoked a lively debate. I see both sides of the argument.

If this website falls off the face of the earth without warning, remember the parent MSTA can be found here.

General Banter / Very rare HWY 7 bliss
« on: September 18, 2018, 04:42:32 PM »
Using highway 7 from Jasper to Harrison is often troublesome. A great stretch of road, but almost always cluttered.  I often use it as either the first or last 20 miles of a route getting in or out if Harrison.
Well, today we had it almost all to ourselves and brand new pavement as well. Road Gods smiled on us today.

General Banter / Riding with others
« on: May 16, 2018, 07:38:15 AM »
One of the reasons I enjoy riding with other riders who are similar in skill levels and style of riding is that when riding in a group of a few riders we are a larger entity to be "seen". As in "start seeing motorcyclists ".
I will add other reasons to this thread later. Share some of your reasons!

Enjoy your day, and ride! :)

General Banter / Pledge
« on: May 03, 2018, 10:39:05 AM »
In the interest of keeping this group alive and even growing it's numbers,  I pledge to organize 4 open-forum rides this season.  Will others join me in a commitment of their own?

General Banter / So close, yet ...
« on: March 11, 2018, 09:42:14 AM »
It's 90% of what I wanted it to be. Where it starts to show it's flaws are at speeds that I sometimes like to ride. I feel it "pushing" through the air versus slicing through the air like my sportbikes did. Also surprising is the gas mileage. While 35-40 mpg is still ok, I could slice the corners all day on my CBR and get 40-45.
A 350 mile day is more comfortable, but ...... maybe I didn't mind the "uncomfort" given it's a trade off. A Cadillac is more comfortable, but a Corvette is more fun. I'll rest when I'm dead.

We'll see.

General Banter / More is ..... stupid

This is just a concept bike at this point, yes? Christ, before you know it motorCYCLES will have FOUR wheels. Oh, wait .... we already have those.

General Banter / Multiple bikes
« on: April 05, 2017, 06:44:19 AM »
I don't know how folks with multiple bikes of different classes do it. After just 8 months with 2 bikes I'm facing a dilemma. While riding my sportbike I never have a feeling of "I wish I was on my sport-touring bike", yet while I enjoy my Sprint ST I do on occasion get a feeling of "I wish I was on my CBR".

General Banter / Favorite roads
« on: March 18, 2017, 01:08:04 PM »
In an interest in livening things up around here, I will start a thread about favorite roads. Tell us somethings about the road. Why you like it, what makes it great for you.

I will start with a lesser known road in Arkansas. HWY 14 runs between Omaha (Ar) and Mountain View and is one of my favorites in Arkansas. It is a state highway, so posted speeds are 55. As many of you know, Arkansas does not use gravel on it's shoulders so corners rarely if ever have any gravel. HWY 14 covers some ground and is a great, fun choice getting across the state.
As throughout most of Arkansas, police presence in rural areas is almost negligible. No further comment needed.  :)
Super grippy pavement as well.

More later.

General Banter / Hey Tony!

The picture of you and Mark (Tumbler) at the Veterans Day dinner attracted a whole lot of attention on Facebook. As you're not on FB, I thought I'd paste the response thread here:

General Banter / 2nd half
« on: August 11, 2016, 05:00:15 AM »
As we are now well into the 2nd half of the riding season, it would be terrific if more people would step up and organize rides. Just a thought.  :)    Speak with Ray if you have questions.
