Off Topic / Water Restoration Tech position available
« on: May 25, 2011, 09:49:55 AM »
Our company has an immediate opening for a water restoration tech. Abilities to use Xactimate for writing scopes as well as prior leadership abilities will dictate pay.
With overtime (and we are swamped, pardon the pun) you have the potential to make 60-80k a year, but you would be required to be available for 24 hour emergency calls every other week.
Must pass drug test as well as having a good driving record.

PM me and I'll forward you our HR's email.

General Banter / Therapy

What’s different?
I feel better today.
Stresses are more manageable.
Co-workers are more interesting.
An overall better sense of well being.
Thighs are still burning, but body and mind are at peace.
I wish this feeling wasn’t for only half the year.

What's different? A day that started as hell (39º) and became 6 hours of the body releasing endorphins.
God's (or nature's ... your choice) way of making it worth riding again.

For Sale/Wanted to Buy / 2001 Honda CBR929 OEM Muffler
« on: April 15, 2011, 08:16:00 AM »
2001 Honda CBR929 OEM Muffler for sale.
Used 1 season (2002). This muffler has sat in my office at work for 8 years (don't ask). Used for one season before I put on a Two Brothers exhaust.

No mounting hardware. Pictures to follow, but trust me that it's free of damage.

$50

For Sale/Wanted to Buy / Tires and windscreen
« on: April 09, 2011, 05:00:56 PM »
I bought a new (for me) 2007 CBR that came with some mismatched tires that I'm getting rid of.
Rear: Shinko R009RR  190/50  17  $110 at Motorcycle-Superstore.com
Front: Pirelli $95 at the same.

The bike I took them off has 2400 miles. W I D E chicken strips, but I'm hesitant to say "lots of miles left" as the miles we all get out of tires varies greatly, but it's safe to say both are well under 50% used.

$25 a piece

I'm also selling a 2007 CBR1000 OEM Windscreen.  $30

(I can't meet anyone until tomorrow if you're interested)

Thanks

General Banter / Keyless gas caps
« on: March 20, 2011, 09:24:24 PM »
Perhaps I'm looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist, but ... has anyone tried one of these after-market key less gas caps? Years ago I was not thinking and put my tank bag on my tank with the key left in the gas cap slot. The key bent significantly, but I was able to remove it without breaking the key. (This is now why I always have a 2nd key with me, ha).

Seams like a neat idea, though I don't know that I've ever seen anyone use these. Anyone?

... and I'm not sure it's a "problem" worth a $100 fix, lol.

Off Topic / ok then, time for something completely different.
« on: December 06, 2010, 02:32:09 PM »
I discovered this old 35mm slide in some of my mother's estate I was going through last month. I had a coworker scan it into a jpg. Forgive the dust flecks, I guess slides reveal all dust if not properly cleaned first.

Junior Prom, 1980.

Yes, I was a little excited... :P

Long story, more later.

This book was mentioned yesterday on Joe Soucheray's show. I'll have to pick this up.

If I had the coin to cover the legal expenses involved if I was caught, and I was single and wouldn't incur the wrath of my wife, I would love to do this. I was 13 when I saw the original Gumball Rally movie in 1976 and it had a profound effect on me.

If you haven't seen the film, it completely blows The Cannonball Run series out of the water.

General Banter / Keeping myself in check
« on: October 21, 2010, 05:56:59 PM »
I know there is at least one other prominent rider here that does this exact same thing and for the exact same reasons. I won't out him (or her) .... but here goes:

One way I keep my riding in check is that I've never had more than liability insurance for any of my bikes. I've always paid cash for my bikes, so I'm not tied to a financial institution and obligated to carry full coverage. For me this behavior has positive results.
1. It keeps my endorphins in check and I'm constantly aware when I'm on the bike that I'm paying myself for any f*ups I incur.
2. If anyone uses the argument against me, "You shouldn't ride that way as it costs all of us in higher rates" ... I can reply, "That may be true for some, but not me" .....

Works for me, but YMMV.
