Bike Help / Re: Bad Performance
« on: April 14, 2010, 09:57:42 PM »
Also, hitting the rev limiter is not so bad for the engine but if you had downshifted at that point it would definitely have been bad for the engine.

No to mention bad for him as well!!

Wish I had the money to buy it.

I wish you did too John!!  I had a guy that seemed very interested but he has not called back.  I think I'm going to revamp the ad & get it back out there.  Thank you to Ray for the tips on it too.

General Banter / Re: Tire Pressure
« on: April 12, 2010, 11:26:59 PM »
The air pressure that the motorcycle company gives you is for the OEM tire. The air pressure on the side of the tire is for maximum load like a passinger or saddle bags. Now if you go to the tire company web site and look up your bike they will tell you what tire they recommend and what air pressure to use. For a sportbike most are recommending 32 front and 36 rear.

That is interesting Vince.  I usually run what it says on the swingarm so I go with 36 & 42.  May have to adjust mine.

Nice to see you on here John.  The rides these guys put on are longer than what you may be used to.  But I know I'm working a lot more now so when I can get out I want to rack the miles up!!!

There are a bunch of great people I've met from here so far & its a different crowd than you will find on other forums.  Look around a bit & learn what you can about the group....whatever else you need to know I'm sure will come up on the first ride you do.

Might want to wait until July or so, just so we know Ely is out of snow. I did talk to the hotel there and they said its been 50, and the only snow is piles from snow removal, soon.

Good point there Jon.  I did have a call today on the bike but need to set up a viewing.  Hopefully it will sell soon!!

I got 20/20 on the signs and 17/20 on the collision test.  Both were at medium speed.  Interesting test though!!

Here is the one that I have.  It was great for while I was in training & has served me well on the bike.  It has a 3L bladder & pockets to carry some snacks as well as other items.  I believe they have the same version that is not a camo color.

Good points Lloyd.  Where & when was that pic taken you talked about?  I don't think I've seen that.  You guys are right though....I think the pic is fine & should be taken with a grain of salt so to speak.  Every situation is different & the pic in question may have other info behind it that not a lot of us know about.  I for sure don't know anything about it but do know that sometimes (even when being a "good" or "safe" rider) you have to cross a line of some sort to keep going. Just my .02 worth.

Gonna ride tomorrow?

I'm likely headed out with some people on Sunday.  The meet spot is the Starbucks in Woodbury in Tamarack Villeage past the Wendy's at 1pm.  Looking like we'll be hitting up mainly Washington County roads but the route is going to be adhoc for the most part.  If anyone is interested give me a call/text at 612-910-3339.

I see that the Revit catalogue that they have a lotof stuff. I will go check tham out.
When the weather gets nice again and I have my new bike we'll have to go up and try some on.

I hear you there Vince....I think I may have to get down to Motoprimo & look at getting a pair of those gloves.  I'm all in for a trip to Duluth...via Jay Cooke of course!!  I'm gonna price some stuff out on their website so I have an idea of what I'm gonna spend.  I'm thinking this could work for sometime in late May/early June.
