Let's also not forget the economy is still in the dumps - has been for a long time now.  Expendible income is not what it was 10 years ago and people just aren't spending like in the past.  This is affecting many activities....not so much football as was stated which is curious....

Miles Baldwin was my underdog hero at the time!  A greasy "do it yourself" privateer type - like I was back in my CRA days.... :D

There was also a guy by the name of Dave Busby that was running TR2/3 & TD2/3 against the TZ's at the time giving them a run for their money too.....

I really miss two strokes in roadracing - the sound and smell can't be beat IMHO!!

I totally agree pkpk!!  It is nice to see some people in the new group that actually have roadracing experience at a high level.  This hopefully will help them bring the AMA, etc. up to the level they were in the past.

Looking forward to good things coming.  May be a slow road at first as getting the mfrs./sponsers back on board could take some time.

Patience young Skywalker......for me...  ;)

We never saw any. Where were they. At the donut shop.

"If you want to find all the cops
They're hanging out in the donut shop.
 They sing and dance
Spin the clubs cruise down the block.

All the cops in the donut shop say:
 Walk like an Egyptian
 Walk like an Egyptian. "

Hehehehehehehehehehe....  ;D

Hey Jake,

Nice to meet you on Saturday!  I like talking gearhead things with someone who lives it.

Hope to see you on another ride soon.

Very nice ride hme for me as well.  Great pavement, few cars, nice speed through the sweepers.  Nice riding with Joel & Vince as they hustle along quite nicely but not at "LUDICRIS SPEED" (well Vince may of done some of that late in the day on Saturday on his Harley... ;-)
1100 mile weekend - Great time!

Too bad a couple had to peel off early - they missed some nice roads....

Thanks to Larry/Ray for putting the event together and Larry for the great route on Saturday and Ray for the great routes to and from MN!!

Sure was a surprize to see Vince on 35N on Friday!!!  I wondered what was going on after they passed us with Vince's nose stuck on his wndow looking at us!!! Didn't recognize him at first with his glasses being so dark. LOL!!  It was good to see Mike D on the way up for lunch and we met and rode with some really nice people in Vince's sled club.  Really great trails and the hot tub sure was nice after a day riding for my old bones.  Vince as usual was in riding in front...... ;-)
Over 500mi over the weekend for us.

Bike Help / Re: RC 51

It indeed was an interesting read....  I remember the cam puller tool being out but I never got one.  After tightening the cam bearing clearances and setting the valves with 2 feeler gauges the bike ran quiet and well.  I still have the Honda 10mm offset wrench in my toolbox - a favorite for weird fastener locations....

Never a carb problem on that bike.  I just removed the limiter caps and adjusted the idle mixture so it would actually idle without the stock lean stumble bumble.  Never even took the carbs out in the 22K miles I had the bike.

That sounds like something Rob did too.  Did you get the procedure off the old SabMag list?  Rob also said something about having to properly align the rear final drive pumpkin to minimize the crank problem.

No - I was kind of a rebel at the time and my Dad being a machinist gave me some advice on how to do it after I kind of thought it up on my own.  I did it when the bike was still in warrenty in 1984 as Burnsville Sports Center weren't much help (see how old I am... ;-).  No problems with the rear pumpkin on mine.....

My 84 V65 Sabre just had cam noise due to the cam bearings having too much clearace, especially with the 3/4 bearing circumference on the outer bearings.  What I did was take all the cam bearing caps off and surface plate them to get the clearance down to min spec levels using Plastigage as my measurement tool.  Took moost of an afternoon to get it right.  After that I could set the clearance to factory specs with no noise.  Bike has over 70K on it now as I service it from time to time for the guy I sold it too.  Still running strong - great mids for a bike of that time.....
