Tail of the Dragon was featured on a show on Discovery. The show was called Hell Roads and should be replayed this weekend I think.

Cool! Thanks for the linky.

Hell... here's a road for you. Enjoy the whole video, and don't worry, you'll see the road I'm talking about! I'd love to ride it! (it's at 1:45 for you impatient types)

that was a cool clip! I haven't ever seen video of the tail before

I'm hauling down to the TOD in early April for a week of riding and have room for 3-4 bikes right now. Want to get away? Give me a hollar.
-
I wonder if TOD has the most crashes and near misses of any road in the US. There is a thread over on ADVrider which has some amazing examples of bad riding culled from Killboy and others. The road ceratinly gets a fair number of fatalities. I don't have any urge to ride TOD when there are less popular roads nearby.
-
TOD is a neat road (from what I've heard), but I have to agree with Ian. It isn't the "end all be all" of great roads. I've lead a rich "twistie-loving" life just fine without it.
-
I just checked the thread I mentioned and it just hit ........500........PAGES!

I'm pretty sure that Chris isn't going to be riding ONLY the Tail of the Dragon... As we all know, there are many, many good roads in the area and I'm sure he's going to incorporate most of them in this trip.
I'm pretty sure the title of this thread only means that area of the country and that particular attraction.
-
TOD= Tail of the Dragon. How about "Six Gap"? or "Devil's Triangle". All parts of the pleasure within the Chatahoochi National Forest, overlapping the corners of Tennessee, Georgia and the Carolinas. And were doing all this and more in April. If you have 6 days to ride that region, there are few twisties that you'd leave untouched... or ADV trails adventures you could do. The sky is the limit.
-
Forrest and I try to get out there a couple times a year. The tail is like stugis or bike week, it's more about the spectical than anything else, but it is a great road just too many people. Endless places to ride out there, each road is like the next, way too many to do in one lifetime.
-
lol I got sucked into that ADV thread Ian and started looking at killboy's pics and found this guy. Kind of the opposite of the original thread but also humorous.
