General Banter / Re: Crashes Reported in the Media« on: July 23, 2013, 02:18:58 PM »Of the 27 motorcycle fatalities this year for which details on helmets were available, 19 riders were not wearing helmets. Although adult riders are not required to wear helmets in Minnesota, the Department of Public Safety said they should be worn by everyone, along with brightly colored protective gear for improved visibility. I see more law in the future of Minnesota.... 4

What if the deer could get rid of us for killing them? Tony, the deer don't use technology otherwise the NSA would have them all tracked.. Mike, I believe Tony was making a funny. 5

I use the MSR ones when I am touring, I have two of them. They hold up very well and can give you the needed extra range to get to the gas station.

Safety and Riding Tips / Re: A friendly motorist gets you a ticket.« on: April 10, 2013, 06:04:05 AM »For the record. My scenario is not a LEO trap as happened to Paul, but one where a cop happens to see the group rolling the sign just by chance.I got that Greg. :-) 8

This is the first I have ever heard of a cop ticketing a group of bikes for "running" a stop sign after the fist two bikes have come to a complete stop, but I guess it depends if the cop was anti biker or not. I would be super surprised if a cop would stop a group of 5 or more bikes for slow rolling through a stop sign in Wisconsin given the very large Harley groups that ride here, I have seen cops stop traffic and let the large group go though.
Paul your story is different less then 4 bikes should always stop. But what was going on there was called entrapment, a cop can not encourage you to break the law so another cop can give you a ticket, But then its Iowa so..... As for me I riding in a group I slow down enough to stop safely if needed but will not put my feet down, unless I am one of the two lead bikes then I do put my feet down and come to a stop, make sure its clear both ways for the following bikes to be able to slow roll through, but it is everybody's reasonably to make sure its safe for them to go. my .02 10

seams like this has been done before.
AR. 128 is a blast (but eats bikes) 7 and 16 were also a lot of fun. ID. 12 (LOLO Pass) is a great road too CO. 92 and 149 and 141 are my favorite roads out there 550 (million dollar hwy) was not that good of a ride, to much traffic. WY. 16 and and 14 over the bighorns and 443 was nice, 26/278 had a some awesome views of the East Tetons MT. 116 might not have been to bad but it was raining and sleeting and 287 has some great views of the west side of the Tetons. SD. 16 to WY., Custer State Park, Spearfish, 16a, 87 WI. SS is my fav, but really any of the alphabet roads in that area are fun. writing this I realized that I have put some miles on the in the last few years. |
