Vander, I like the SIPDE strategy.  In the BRCs, we say SEE which I think is easier to remember.

Execute - Adjust speed, adjust lane position, and/or communicate your intentions to others.

I believe I'm a better car driver because I ride a motorcycle.

I personally like to talk through crashes and tip-overs - minor or major.  Some are downright silly, and sometimes it's a good thing to laugh at our mistakes and learn from them.  But, for the serious ones, I like to play the scenarios in my mind and think about what *I* would have done in a similar situation.  Thinking through different possible strategies and outcomes will hopefully aid me someday if I ever have to use one of them.  I believe that playing the "what if" game is extremely valuable.

I wear moisture-wicking clothing underneath my leathers - the cooler clothing really helps with "monkey butt".  ;)  Yesterday I wore a bicycle riding jersey that worked really well for wicking the sweat away and cooling me down quickly after I took off my jacket.  You can buy both T-shirts and long-sleeved T-shirts.  For the bottoms, I wear wicking boxers and pants.  I recommend boxers that do not have seams where you sit.  If you can't find the seamless kind in men's styles, then ladies' boxers will do, too.  The pants are lightweight athletic-style pants, similar to sweats, which are less bulky than jeans under the leathers.  If you don't plan on taking your leathers off during the day, you can also wear wicking long underwear.  All of this clothing is available at http://www.sierratradingpost.com/ and http://www.wickers.com/ .  Ask Brent for more specific details.

We got the opportunity to do these perception tests at the MMSC's Motorcycle Safety Conference this spring in Pat Hahn's See and Be Seen seminar, and they were trickier than I thought they would be.  It's definitely worth the time to try them.

 I agree with Ray on this one.  I have a one-piece 'Stich, a two-piece leather suit, and a two-piece mesh synthetic suit, and I grab my 'Stich more times than not.  I love the super easy on-and-off feature, the multiple pockets, the gortex/waterproof feature (although it does pool in the crotch during heavy downpours), the numerous zippers and air vents, the roominess to add extra layers and/or electrics, the protective armor, the reflective strips - it's got it all.  I love how I can ride in any weather and feel completely protected and comfortable.  If I could have only one riding suit, it would be a 'Stich - even if it isn't very fashionable for women!

Hi, I'm Debby, and I've been hanging around this group for awhile.  I've been on some group rides, and even vacations, with some of the wonderful people on this list.  I'm usually a lurker, but I'll share my two cents when the spirit moves me. 

During the day, I teach high schoolers with learning disabilities.  Nights and weekends are reserved for play, which usually involves motorbikes in some form or another.  I'm looking forward to another fun riding season.  Hope to see you at DCTC, BIR, or on the road this summer!
