General Banter / Re: How many motorcycles is to many?

Shouldn't something like 3-4 be the "correct" amount?  1. Street bike 2. Long Distance 3. Off-road 4. Track Bike.  That's where I plan to stop anyway.

Forums have always been more information focused than junk social media sites.  I agree that I prefer this site to the Facebook group, but as a younger American I also have to accept that I would be permanently out of the loop regarding long time friends and family without it.  Regardless I guess I will finally get around to building that server out and getting a fresh faced forum package installed in the event Ray feels like passing on the torch, even though I won't be an MN resident much longer.

cell phone............. Shut it off, throw it in the tank bag and use only for emergencies.........oh wait, I got in trouble last ride for doing just that......... ;)_
but that is my thought on a cell phone, use only when absolutely necessary otherwise ringer off and let it be far away from me, or just shut it off all together and have peace and quiet

I agree, sadly the rest of the world seems to live in the post "It can wait until tomorrow" world.

I agree with the Zen, exhaust drowns out the cell phone ringer, rumble of the seat dampens stupid cell phone vibration... maybe I should just throw away my cell phone to achieve nirvana?

Yes and hopefully I don't make too much of a fool of myself with my measly <10K miles in the saddle.

You could just barely see the ghost of what used to be siping on that tire.  Not that you would need any of that in WI...

Well the last ride I went on where you were the lead (Sunday before memorial day) didn't make me fear shaking loose from the mortal coil...

It was less the speed limits as I understand that some riders can handle corners better than others and it's more enjoyable to push sport bikes towards their limits, it's just blatantly ignoring the fact that we were supposed to be running staggered and riding tandem with complete strangers on very different machines, even through corners.  Passing in the same lane, etc.  I'm just amazed that people would run 2ft away from a stranger throughout the corners, even when I was clearly trying to keep a reasonable distance from the rider ahead of myself as well as trying to run solo through the corners in the event I might need to run wide to avoid an obstacle.

Went on a group ride last night put on by a dealer, I will never attempt that again.  I'm amazed with the stupidity of riders in their 20s-30s.  I must be 30 going on 55...

General Banter / Re: Radar Detectors
« on: April 24, 2018, 09:13:02 AM »
I have an escort myself.  Seems pointless in the cities due to everything that operates in the radar frequency range, it has some phenomenal detection, but without the network/gps false positive pieces it's constantly going off.  It doesn't help that wifi devices can now operate in those frequency ranges as well so long as they don't cause interference making detectors even less effective in urban areas.

Now in the rural stretches of Iowa when I'm trying to set a new record getting back to St. Louis, that's where it's nice to sniff them out miles in advance.

Just wanted to drop a line in here and introduce myself.  The name is Jake and I've lived in the south metro for a few years now and I'm looking for the twistier bits of MN/WI now that I've managed to scoop up the bike I really wanted.  I'm also a tech junkie and love to wrench for those who want a hand.

Currently Riding:
2012 Aprilia Tuono V4R
2009 Yamaha FZ6R
