That sucks! Not his best moment and it was all captured on camera. things always seem to go wrong when you have an audience.

I like the color scheme he has going, but those frog headlights ARE terrible.

And with the mud that comes with the rain and no hot days left to dry anything out, Arcadia might be off limits (as far as riding is concerned) for the rest of the season.

I agree with Sanders. There was a time when I could ride with anyone just for the sake of doing it, but now I prefer riding with people I trust. New people are great in small doses, but not in large groups.

The way it sounded at first was he was trying to nail you for something, and thats all he could come up with. Like pulling over a car he knows was speeding, but didn't clock it in time, so he fines you for window tint, loud pipes or something.
But the fact that he admitted his error and apolagized sez a lot about who he is. Most LEO's might not give a second glance. I'd write him back, thanking him for taking time to correct his mistake. 6
General Banter / Re: Zero open rides?« on: August 18, 2010, 01:12:26 PM »
I'd love to organize a ride, but I get lost driving around town
So I salute those who do it. I personaly wouldn't mind seeing more northern or central Wisconsin rides with more hills, valleys, ect. I'd like to find a fun ride up to Duluth, the area is gorgeous, and there are plenty of places to stop for lunch, but I don't think there's any good roads from here to there. It's too bad you have to go far enough from population not to cause trouble, but close enough so the roads don't all start resembling a grid. 7

Not to mention you don't see a large mirror sticking out right away when there's a huge truck your trying to avoid. Those suckers are about head level too.

I tried washing mine for the first time after the weekend ride in may. I discovered my lineings do NOT come out. I washed them inside the helmet, and ya, I'm going to do it way more often now.

If it was a test photo shoot, I'm surprised the photos were even published at all, and not quietly sweop under the rug.

I agree with Elk and Lloyd, I enjoy the twisty roads not becuase I care to go really fast, but because I enjoy the difficulty in pushing myself a little harder. Now when I attend slower paced rides, I start to get bored. If people learned to ride a more controlled pace, you wouldn't be guzzeling the gas so much on the straight aways.
Sweepers are a lot of fun, but unfortunately they are spread out in ares that don't offer much else. 13
General Banter / Re: I need a new bike! Which One?« on: August 02, 2010, 12:32:53 AM »
I enjoy my R1. If I got another bike, it would be another R1. The bike is common enough that it's easy to get parts for, it looks and feels great, has more power than I will ever use, and you can get a new one still in the shrink wrap for about 12K. I am an avid shopper on craigslist. I've found great deals on a couple cars and my current bike.
Although I wouldn't mind test riding that 3 wheeled thing that looks like a snowmobile, just out of curiosity. And the Augusta MV is hands down the sickest looking bike I have ever seen! 14

One of the last rides I was on, Lloyd showed me how to put an extra 1/4 gallon in just by standing the bike upright, not leaned over on the kickstand. That evtra bit of fuel got me to the next stop. I had no idea it would matter that much. Even a few more drops could get you 2-3 more miles, or at least enough momentum to coast you into town

Coming from someone who gets bad gas mileage, I know what it's like to think your running out of gas when your not. You invision yourself stranded on the side of the road. But I also know to fuel at every stop, no matter how short. It's the riders responsibility to know the limits of your bike and when you should fuel.
