Safety and Riding Tips / Re: Thoughts on Lane Splitting?
« on: July 29, 2015, 08:23:18 AM »
Since I just returned from Italy and rented a bike and watched the traffic 'filter' to the front of the row at intersections. It works very well

  • I felt that the drivers over seas actually drive and are aware of there surroundings
  • Mostly scooters cruising the streets in Florence
  • Basic driving courtesy, like if you're in front you have right away
  • If you don't start moving at a green light right away, I will go around you and the person lets the driver in front. No horns, no fingers let's just go
  • I must have passed a hundred car backup from a lane closed and construction. All the scooters and motorcycles just rode around it all not holding anybody up and actually making that line shorter
  • I was in full gear and it was about 100 degrees. Had I needed to wait in that LONG line of traffic in the city I would have passed out

On the ride in this morning I got caught up in traffic on N494 before 394. When stopped all I seen was a big lane for me to pass all these cars and trucks.

The Honda Pacific Coast motorcycle...

Not mine but I know you are envious. There are three currently for sale in Minnesota but a recent addition might be a tasty deal to get in on a great bike at Carousel Motor Group in Maplewood

Ray it might look nice with the other Red bikes.

Triumph Tiger

I lean a little more towards the Triumph Explorer for the shaft drive and power but it is bigger than the Tiger like the GS.

Did you see the sign on 35 that said 'Cassville Ferry Closed'?

I did but figured you knew better.

It's still a nice ride into town anyways.

Hop over to Chaska and then towards Carver and then down along the river towards Henderson.

Nothing too tight around this side except for a short few corners. Like on 101. But some of that is closed for work.

Ah yes, I thinking Tony starts drooling when we approach Millville just for those uphill sweepers...

Lunch was pretty dang tasty and so were the roads we rode the whole weekend.

Good thing Paul was in front of me on 76, I might have started dragging parts on the PC800. Much fun on a great road.

Oh, nice bike Powerhouse

Yikes, glad you're OK.

With that ding in the frame the bike will be totaled. Hope the shopping for a another one works in your favor.

Routes / WI Dual Sport with Snake Creek & Trout Valley
« on: August 30, 2013, 09:37:31 PM »
Here is a route from Ellsworth WI to the Pickle Factory in Pepin.

It's a 115 mile round trip on pavement, dirt roads, minimum maintenance roads, and possibly a water crossing or two.

The file also has the layout of Snake Creek and Trout Valley OHV areas.
You should have a MN OHV sticker if you plan on riding these areas. It helps pay for these areas for us to ride.

Bike Help / Re: RC 51

I've had the pleasure of following a RC-51 two times. Once down the straight away at BIR, the other heading North on 35 just South of Alma.

Both times the bar ends weights came off and bounced over my head.

Don't feel bad if I don't follow you Mike!!  ;D

Keep in mind your speedo will change also.
i.e. Your speed is 65 but your speedo says 55
