Music Help
« on: March 23, 2012, 12:04:03 PM »
There are some very musical people on here... and I am hoping to find some advice on discovering a new (to me) composer(s).

I LOVE J.S. Bach (especially BMV 227)
and I LOVE Vivaldi (especially Gloria)

Any suggestions?

Guess I should post a sample:

Bach: Jesu, meine Freude, BWV 227 (Mvt. I, II, III)

Go to Padora and plug those two in and see what they come up with.

Wow I never figured you for a guy who listens to stuff that ancient. That Bach piece is some kind of Motet, maybe religious. The only motets I listen to are by Bruckner and were composed a century after Bach died. Maybe Kevin will chime in. He sings that kind of music in a choir. I'm clueless about music composed before Beethovens time.

Oh you guys are hilarious!   :D

I listen to ALL sorts of stuff...  even have sitar music and Malaysian gamelanon on the playlist; so weird looks and criticisms of my musical tastes are pretty standard in my life (bring it).   :o

Haven't thought of Pandora, Ian.  Thanks!

The origins of the Gamelan are Indonesian... but the particular piece I have claims to be Malaysian (who knows, though... DL'd from a free site years ago).

Also... appreciate the spelling correction.  I was stuck on that one.

Maybe you will enjoy some of (Franz) Joseph Haydn's stuff.  Look at Symphony No. 11.

I also like Handel.  I don't know a lot but both of them are very instrumental and good for thought.  I don't care a whole bunch for the piano based stuff, but there are exceptions!
