Recommendations for soft luggage on an FZ8
« on: May 07, 2012, 08:24:49 PM »
I'm going cross country on an FZ8 (crazy, right?) but I'm looking for some saddlebag/soft luggae options.   Your suggestions could be helpful.   Pictures of your set up, would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Cortecs saddle bags are pretty decent. If I was to go cross country I'd definitely look into hard luggage if I was you. In this pic I have cortec bags with a cheap 70 dollar eBay top case bolted onto a rear seat pan. This box has been worth it's weight in gold for usability (sorry front end was a little apart when photo was taken lol)

I gotta agree with Jeff here... I think you'd be happier with rigid luggage for a long trip.

Saddlemen makes great motorcycle luggage.

I was introduced to them when my bike was used to model their first line of sport luggage.  They gave me a set, and I use them quite often; GREAT luggage.

I have the Cortech saddle bags and tail bag system. The tail bag snaps to the
saddle bags or can be used solo. I use them every year when I take my FZ6
on one and two week road trips. I've found them to be great. I also take along
a medium and small cargo net, just in case I find anything along the way I want
to bring home. I don't use the rain covers on the saddle bags, I put a waterproof
stuff sack in each side and use that. That way at the end of the day you can just
take the sacks out and not have to mess with taking the saddle bags off and then
put them back on in the morning.
