2019 COTA Apr 12-14
« on: November 21, 2018, 12:51:55 PM »
I plan on going and have never been to this event.

When tickets are available any recommendation on which ones, any particular sections or is general fine? Must get VIP?

Plan on trailing the bikes most of the way down and then ride a few days before around the Hill Country. So any recommendation on where to stay for the event?  Close by or is riding in OK and not a major hassle.

Last year we stayed in Kerrville, TX at La Quinta for a few nights.  Nice place at a good rate.  They were also doing some remodeling at the time with new beds.  Should be real nice now.
LQ is just across the street from the famous Y.O Ranch.  At the time, we did not know that, but that also looks nice and is used for many Rides in the Hill country.
When we went back to Austin area for the races, we stayed closer to COTA.  We stayed at Comfort Inn & Suites in Buda, TX.  Also very nice.
Research some side roads to COTA so that you don't need to use the toll roads.

Out of curiosity roughly what does it cost to attend this event?

A buddy of mine is trying to plan a trip to Hill Country this next summer but depending on the cost it may be worth it to tie it into this event.

Check out this article on the Twisted Sisters Roads near Kerrville, TX.  It was in the latest issue of RoadRunner mag.

Thanks for the tips, not sure I would have thought of Buda. Is Pest on the other side of the freeway?  LOL  Budapest

Riding that time of year sounds great.

Nope.  The only Pest that I know that is across the river or road is Buda in Hungary.  We were there in 2016, on a 15 day river cruise from Amsterdam.

But, there may be some Texas pests that we don't see in Minnesota, such as Armadillos.  Now that is a big LOL.

There are a lot of great BBQ places around there also.  Many places you are served outdoors on picnic tables under the trees with hanging lights in the trees at night.

If you decide to go, send me a pm and I can give more details, as my wife and I were there in Sep, 2017 for almost a week with a rental car.  Then I flew back for 4 days in October for the F1 race.  Friends that I was with, showed me many more places.  Every night was an experience of great BBQ and bands.  Texas style.
