All I care about is the yucks per buck ratio.  It's very high. :)

Absolutely, the best bang for your buck!  What price Nirvana?

A 400 mile day costs you about $125 - $150.

10 gallons of gas @ $4/gal = $40
1/10th the life of your (sport-bike) tires = $35 (price includes mounting & balancing)
Lunch (Kwik Trip style  ;)) , assorted soda's & ice cream throughout the day = $10
Assuming various maintenance intervals ... Brakes pads, valve adjustment, chain, sprockets, battery, stator, oil changes = $30 (very rough estimate, probably on the low end)
Depreciation = $20
Various gear over a lifetime = $10

That's $145 dollars listed above. I'm sure I'm missing some things as well. Yes, large chunks of cash can be saved by doing a lot of the maintenance work yourself. But unfortunately I wasn't born with that guy gene, so even with Lloyd's reasonable prices this is one expensive hobby / sport / passion / life!   :-\

But I'm not complaining too loudly. I wouldn't replace one moment in my life that I've spent on a bike.

Could someone print me off a couple route sheets, I'm too stupid to make my own. Thanks see ya on the ride.

I'll have an extra dozen or so.

Seems counter-intuitive.  To me this forum (and the previous incarnation) is all about the rides, and to close out that section to the general public would, most likely, invite less MSTA membership and participation.  What is an "open" MSTA ride now?

I think the thought process is, "join the forum" and you can view content. That's the modus operandi for mnsbr, teamzg and twistedaddiction, isn't it?

I like it.
The few seconds it takes to log in to view should not be something worth arguing over.

Keep the riff raff out !!

Seams reasonable to me. Just join the forum, then you can review all the goodies. All are welcome.

Now, regarding "riff raff" ...... there's already quite a few here, present company included.  :D

I will always go by slow enough so the person I'm passin can see a friendly wave I'm givin them. I just feel if you acknowledge people, they will be far less apt to get pissed off cause YOUR havin fun.

Agreed. Slowing (somewhat) and giving a wave goes a long way, I try to do this. Also something to consider ..... almost every car we pass now has a cell phone in it. Drivers will call the popo if upset enough.

I don't have time to review the video as I'm at work, but a group of us had a negative experience similar to this in Arkansas last year as well. It is discussed here:
http://mn-msta.com/index.php/topic,380.0.html

My quote:
"A little follow-up story on this day of the trip. We rode State Hwy E north from HWY 60 near Winona, Mo to HWY 106. We then jogged over to HWY 19 and had a wonderful time, thanks for that tip! While we were headed north on State Hwy E (about the width of a nicer “lettered” road in Wisconsin, comparable to CTY P for example) we came upon a large gravel dump truck moving along at a decent clip, (50-55mph?). I happened to be in the front and passed him first. I thought he seemed to edge a little into my space as I passed him, but dismissed it as just chance.

As Tony and Jared passed him he edged farther and farther into their space as each one passed, clearly trying to spook (or worse?) them as I guess he didn’t like us passing. I’m not prone to violence and haven’t been in a fight since the age of 12, but that angered me to no end.
Given that we were in meth country (Southern Missouri is one of the worst in the country) and I had no idea if he was armed, I’m glad sensible thoughts overrode the anger I was feeling. For a moment I really wanted to …….    >:(

Anyway, be careful on State Hwy E

Greg"

*EDIT*  WHOA, nasty scenario. At about the 2 minute mark he passes that church. I would have tried to stop there. Having witnesses would have hopefully prevented the truck driver doing anything felonious. Scary stuff.

Off Topic / Water Restoration Tech position available
« on: May 25, 2011, 09:49:55 AM »
Our company has an immediate opening for a water restoration tech. Abilities to use Xactimate for writing scopes as well as prior leadership abilities will dictate pay.
With overtime (and we are swamped, pardon the pun) you have the potential to make 60-80k a year, but you would be required to be available for 24 hour emergency calls every other week.
Must pass drug test as well as having a good driving record.

PM me and I'll forward you our HR's email.

Good morning all. I've found a bike I'd like to move on but I'd like to sell this first.
My final price is $3750 and that includes delivery to your home (metro area) on my trailer.

Thanks,
Greg

I'm curious, is this bike still for sale? I'm new to this forum and checked the thread but didn't see a SOLD post? If so i would be interested.

Thanks,

RG

What’s different?
I feel better today.
Stresses are more manageable.
Co-workers are more interesting.
An overall better sense of well being.
Thighs are still burning, but body and mind are at peace.
I wish this feeling wasn’t for only half the year.

What's different? A day that started as hell (39º) and became 6 hours of the body releasing endorphins.
God's (or nature's ... your choice) way of making it worth riding again.
