I think Jay and Denyse are in this picture somewhere. I remember we split off from the main group to hit up twisties in IA, Houston and Winona Counties.

Cool pic, Tony. Those sunny days seam so far off this time of year, but at least the days are getting longer!  :headbang:

This is from sometime before '07. Near the bottom of the hill on the southeast side of Wildcat, at HWY 33 & Cty F.

Left to right: Denyse, dunno, dunno (buddies of hers from Rochester area?) Vince, Kirk, Clueless Rebel, dunno, Dave O, Dave S, Jim, dunno (though I should), Jay.

plus I don't know where all the good twisties are. Hopefully all that will change this year.

Chris,
Welcome to MSTA. You've got a beautiful bike there!

Your friend at Motoprimo didn't steer you wrong. This is the site for exploring Minnesota & Wisconsin's twisty back country roads. A majority (not all)  of the organized rides start in Hastings, Red Wing or Wabasha on the Minnesota side and in Prescott or Nelson over in Wisconsin. Routes can run anywhere between 200-400 miles from the starting point.

Although it's painful to think how long it will be until we rip the twisties given the blizzard I see out my window, ha.  :P

Cheers,
Greg

we got in the car and I proceeded to back into the turn-around spot without looking. I remember feeling a BUMP, then seeing my fathers eyes explode  :o and he tears off chasing the car down the hill. Needless to say he didn't catch the car.

This is the part I don't get.  Someone wasn't in the habit of setting the parking brake, or at least putting the car in gear?  Or was it in gear, but it rolled anyway?

Yes, the plot thickens here. I can honestly plead innocence as although it was 30 years ago, I do remember I spent the afternoon washing and waxing the Ford so whomever drove the Honda last (my mother or father) failed to set the parking brake or put it in gear. But it could have been me as well, given my thoughts were prone to thinking about what might happen exploring that huge backseat. :)

Jared,
Glad to hear you escaped relatively unharmed! Scary world out there.

A Honda Civic with a George Bush sticker on it!

lol, that's Bush #1 before Reagan beat him for the Republican nomination. My Dad was for Bush.

Women drivers.. Lol

I wish I could blame it on my mother or sister, but nope ...
Wow I had forgotten what a Civic from that era looked like.

We were the first family in our circle of friends to have a high mileage Japanese import. That was a great car and it sold me on the value of Honda's. I suffered endless grief from my party buddies though for having a yellow little car when muscle cars will still in vogue.  :D

Ok, story goes:
Our house lived on a slight hill and the home you see in the picture is actually the neighbors house behind ours and down the hill. Our drive way had a "turn-around" in the driveway and we would sometimes park one of our 2 cars there. Well, I was driving the 1975 Ford Gran Torino for prom as it was the "fancier" car. The Honda was parked in the turn-around. (You see where this is going). After the obligatory pictures with the date taken by my folks, we got in the car and I proceeded to back into the turn-around spot without looking. I remember feeling a BUMP, then seeing my fathers eyes explode  :o and he tears off chasing the car down the hill. Needless to say he didn't catch the car.
Miraculously it only damaged the neighbors steps and they were good sports about it as well.

30 years ago, yikes.

I discovered this old 35mm slide in some of my mother's estate I was going through last month. I had a coworker scan it into a jpg. Forgive the dust flecks, I guess slides reveal all dust if not properly cleaned first.

Junior Prom, 1980.

Yes, I was a little excited... :P

Long story, more later.

 Denyse,

I'm done discussing this thread, I feel you're reading way to much into this. I'll gladly discuss it next season in person if you'd like.

Happy holidays. :)

What just happen?

Right?  Wasn't shooting for the drama, just thought it was a cool picture I'd share.  I think it's hilarious that he's got his elbow down and his knee's off the pavement.  T-minus 4-ish months til we can ride again, I think we should put together a fundraiser to send Greg to his first track day!  I've got the first Ten-er in the pot.  Who's with me?

Only 3/4 joking :P

I was trying to be clever with my responding post, but on reflection it could be viewed as pretty arrogant. That wasn't my original intent. Live and never learn.  :-X

I'm sorry you feel it's an inappropriate personal attack. I'm not calling a single person out at all.
Go figure, I'm a motorcyclist with an opinion. As are you.

Cheers

Bump for another pic (not from T of the D).  It's coooooooold outside!  Hope everyone's winter is going well!

Perhaps the only solace we can take from being off the bikes all winter is that "absence makes the heart grow fonder".

Now, regarding the picture. Am I to gather that the rider is bored on the track?   :P

I'm just sayin' ......

Never bored on mine, even in a straight line.

This book was mentioned yesterday on Joe Soucheray's show. I'll have to pick this up.

If I had the coin to cover the legal expenses involved if I was caught, and I was single and wouldn't incur the wrath of my wife, I would love to do this. I was 13 when I saw the original Gumball Rally movie in 1976 and it had a profound effect on me.

If you haven't seen the film, it completely blows The Cannonball Run series out of the water.

Anymore opinions on where we might go next year?  I'll happily go wherever is decided if the dates work out.

My first choice is the Ozarks.
They are only 10-11 hours away.
There are plenty of good roads to justify multiple days of riding.
There are at least 3, maybe 4 MSTA events we could schedule around. That gives us the flexibilty to get the most attendees.
We have MSTA members Greg, Jared, Ray, etc who have been there enough to have scouted out the good places to eat (and more importantly, those to avoid).
Lodging is more economical than some of the other places mentioned.

My first choice is Arkansas as well, though a close 2nd would be the Appalachians.
I'd be a "no-show" if a trip forms that heads west for the races in Utah. Just too much time & money for me.
If a trip forms heading west, I'll probably coordinate another Arkansas trip with the usual suspects, though everyone is invited  :). As I said earlier, I'm open to going east as well.

I'm good with how it is setup now.

Thanks Ray for all your hard work on putting this site together.
