Unfortunately this underscores the image hit we suffer.  Instead of "Motorcyclist hits child, then flees", it should have read, "Douchebag hits child....."  The really bad thing here is, since the guy spoke with a Jamaican accent, he is probably on a plane back there already.

Woman hurt in motorcycle crash

An Illinois woman was injured Saturday in a motorcycle crash in the Township of Wheatland.

Elizabeth B. Rosberg, 60, lost control of the motorcycle at 12:50 p.m., on fresh asphalt paving on Hwy. 82 and went into the ditch. She was ejected from the motorcycle, according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department.

Rosberg was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. She was wearing a helmet and full riding gear.

The crash remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department.

Minnesota resident hurt in motorcycle crash

A St. Louis Park, Minn., resident was injured Saturday in a motorcycle crash in the Township of Genoa.

Martinez Turner, 47, was driving the motorcycle at about 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of Mound Ridge and Gianoli roads and lost control, according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department.

Turner was ejected from the motorcycle and was taken to a La Crosse hospital for minor injuries. Turner was wearing a helmet and full riding gear.

The crash remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department.

Note that the Lacrosse Tribune reports not only the helmet status, but riding gear as well.  But it makes me wonder what they report for lack of riding gear.  In other words, it's a good example for others but they should go the distance and report when a rider only had a doo-rag and t-shirt.

I just heard about it on fox 9 news. It was some 25yr old guy on a sportbike, speeding down a side street and hit a 4 yr old who is now in critical condition. Guys name was Ernest Jonas and he lived in St Paul and was said to be seen driving "radically" and "popping wheelies" and had been asked to slow down while in the neighborhood. So when he hit that little kid they knew who it was, just had to find him. What a sack of shit! And giving sportbike riders a bad name!

1 dead after motorcycle crash near Forest Lake

FOREST LAKE, Minn. - One person is dead after a motorcyclist lost control and crashed Friday night near Forest Lake.

The victim was headed northbound on State Highway 61 at 240th street just after 6:30 p.m., traveling at what the State Patrol calls a high rate of speed when he lost control of his Harley Davidson and crashed.

State Patrol spokesman Eric Roeske says the victim was not wearing a helmet. He was dead on the scene.

Roads were described as dry at the time of the crash and it appears no other vehicles were involved.

Officers from the Forest Lake and Wyoming police departments and the Washington County Sherrif's department assisted on the scene. The name of the victim has not been released.

Motorcyclist dies in crash in Washington County

A 45-year-old man who died Friday night in a motorcycle crash in Forest Lake had alcohol in his system, the State Patrol said Saturday.

The patrol identified the victim as Scott L. Vikander.

About 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Vikander was heading north on Hwy. 61 near 240th Street N. at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown off, the patrol said. He wasn't wearing a helmet.

Forest Lake police, the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Wyoming Police Department responded to the crash.

Eagan Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Collision With Semi

An Eagan motorcyclist was critically injured Saturday morning in a collision with a semi.

The State Patrol says the accident happened around 8:15 a.m. along Highway 55 at Lexington Avenue South.

The motorcyclist, 34-year-old Jeffrey Maciej, was eastbound on Highway 55 as a semi was crossing over the highway from a private parking lot. The State Patrol says the collision happened when the semi pulled out in front of the motorcycle.

Maciej, who was wearing a helmet, was in critical condition at Regions Hospital Saturday. The driver of the semi, 37-year-old Alejandro Ramos of Minneapolis, was not injured.

Yesterday on my way to lunch I wondered what I missed over the weekend? Flourescent paint on the road and a cross and flowers in the ditch. Forest Lake has made the thread a couple times over the last couple weekends. My boys said they were driving by when the family was there putting up the cross and flowers. Sad stuff.

It's simply passing on what is already reported in the media.  I already found something interesting in the way media differs in the reporting (Lacrosse Tribune makes note of riders wearing full gear for ex.)  Why would simply passing on the information be anymore disrespectful than what is already in the public domain?  What are your concerns?
